Have you worn Dior Homme?

Tell us how it opens, how it settles on your skin, how long it lasts and when you wear it.

  1. Finally, I got this masterpiece I’ve been longing for. A perfectly balanced iris, suitable from formal to casual settings; nothing invasive or tiring. It’s my absolute signature; what a shame it’s so hard to find. Every time I wear it, I appreciate it more. A true work of art.

Batch 2018. Luckily, I managed to grab a 50ml bottle. First impression: gentleman EDP, a more mature and elegant version of Dior Homme. EDIT: After testing both, Dior Homme is wuaaoo—magnificent, delicious, delicate, and noble, but on my skin, it barely lasts a whisper. In the Gentleman EDP, the iris feels less delicate, more dirty, earthy, and heavy. If you want closeness for a date, go with Dior Homme, but if you want to command attention from your surroundings, wear the Gentleman EDP.

Very good perfume; it smells like makeup, but in a pleasant way. The iris is high quality and works wonderfully for formal occasions.

I tried it and liked it, but I didn’t feel any sweetness or florals at all. Instead, it’s ANIMALIC and aromatic. I should try it again, but at first, I didn’t detect the iris or any notes. That said, it lasts forever, is very masculine, and serious.

I also have the Sport and Intense versions… I feel like this one has the most prominent iris, sometimes becoming invasive. Lasts 10 hours on skin. Behind that iris, you can detect chocolate, leather, and lavender, followed by a touch of amber and bergamot.

  6. I have the 2015 version; I don’t know how the current one compares. Personally, I don’t like it; it’s quite different, reminding me of a vanilla and cocoa blend with leather in the opening. On my skin, it lasts 5 hours projecting well and another two hours close to the skin. It’s not for everyone. My mother could wear it without me noticing.

A modern classic loaded with distinction and sophistication. It’s an ode to good taste, considered a masterpiece of high perfumery. It represents an elegant, classy man of high appeal, ready to seduce and leave a mark. It’s a spicy floral designed for day and night use in any season. It has magnificent projection and high longevity, staying intact without needing touch-ups.

I owned this fragrance and had to get rid of it because it was too invasive and gave me headaches. Excellent performance, but unbalanced to my nose. Opens with bitter cocoa and iris, but dries down to be very powdery and musky. It outperforms the Intense in projection, but I feel the Intense is more balanced. Ideal for cool climates.

Thanks to small specialized distributors and sellers, this classic fragrance is still around; I was lucky enough to grab a 2015 batch, a similar version of the original (the post that Demachy from O. Polge receives). An emblematic scent you can’t miss if you like this wonderful world of perfumery. A soft, intimate lavender sketch, with iris dominating the heart, accompanied by cocoa, amber, and hints of a faint powdery leather. Overall, a sophisticated aroma for the designer segment, endowed with rigor, charm, and elegance, perfectly unisex and with a pleasant development on the skin.

  10. I managed to get two 100ml bottles (2018 batch). It smells super good; I’ve always loved the iris note… my favorite… but honestly, I’d stick with the Intense or the Parfum. Maybe I’ll sell one of the two I got…

  11. I don’t get the hype with this fragrance. I read a lot that they say it’s a great classic and I agree. It seems like a perfume for an older gentleman, a man from before who hasn’t changed his cologne in 40 years. I’m not saying it’s bad, but it feels like a vintage scent. The kind your 65-year-old uncle Peep would wear, and you’d prefer he doesn’t touch you next to at Christmas dinner.

  12. M. Richez

Elegance is something you’ll have in spades with this perfume. It’s my favorite in the line, the original that started it all. Why is it my favorite? Because of its versatility. So much so that I have two 50ml bottles and one 100ml bottle, all from the first batches, which I saw in an old perfume shop and took the three that were left. Perfect for a date with that special person, as it’s in closeness that it does its magic.

  13. Another of the great classics a man should have in his wardrobe. Lavender and bergamot are clearly perceived in the top notes, but iris, vetiver, and patchouli are the essence of this fragrance. This blend generates slightly woody and talc-like accords (some compare it to women’s makeup) with a very light touch of cocoa, all in a very balanced way. It’s a warm and masculine perfume, yet delicate and elegant, perfect for dinner. In large crowds, it might go unnoticed, as it has a soft trail.

WATCH OUT, I passed by several stores and be careful with the new Dior Homme, Eau de Parfum, Sport, etc., coming to market; they were reformulated and don’t bring the IRIS, within their particular aroma… let’s see if they become simple perfumes without shine. Luckily, the salesperson warned me… then I tested on skin and obviously, nothing of what you knew.

Elegant and conquering perfume that projects class; the dry down of this is very good with that iris accompanied by cocoa and that leather touch that gives masculinity to the fragrance. A perfume that is liked a lot and looks good, a true jewel of perfumery, with good longevity on my skin.

Dior Homme for me is a pleasant memory of going from beginner to connoisseur of the subject, the same happened with Fahrenheit. When I bought it some time ago, it seemed like a very strange smell to me, then I started liking it. Thanks to Dior Homme, I learned the magic combination of Florentine Iris with the Gourmandise cocoa note and a very discreet use of vetiver that, rather than adding an earthy smell, gives it a talc-like volume. Elegant and luminous scent, but I consider that on the first try it results a bit strange. Do not recommend buying blindly.

The only thing Dior Homme and Dior Sport Homme have in common is that I don’t like the opening much, and it’s that here the iris is very, very heavy, almost like a bitter cosmetic smell, but as the cocoa and amber notes appear, it takes very good shape with the iris a bit less strong but still very present. At times, it reminds me a bit of the smell of new banknotes just out of the bank, but well, that’s a very particular appreciation of mine. In my opinion, it’s a very good winter fragrance for formal activities and somewhat romantic for a date, as long as you apply it with measure. Very, very good longevity and projection, 10 out of 10.

I’m not going to get into durations and trails because everyone has their own skin and more or less delicate sense of smell. What bothers me is reading that this perfume is compared to niches and it’s claimed to be for “noses not accustomed to niche perfumes,” when there are niches with a synthetic scent that turns people off and aren’t worth the price… Let’s feel it without comparing. On my female skin, it results in a very sensual scent, with the iris almost dominating the game. I think it’s totally unisex. On my partner, I sense more vetiver, with a spicy freshness that I love. In short, if you like these notes, you’ll love it, as they don’t feel synthetic.

I tried it today and the opening is a pleasant citrus-lavender mix, though with a feminine touch. It then evolves into something virile, elegant, and velvety, but I do notice a subtle artificial aftertaste that doesn’t excite me. It’s not bad, worth a try, and a valid purchase. It evokes a man over 30, confident, elegant, and neat. I admit it’s a good fragrance.

Just bought it and it’s very well constructed. Forget childish vanillas or ambroxanes; it’s serious, elegant, and for a grown-up. The opening has a conservative lavender, fresh bergamot, and sage as a connector. The heart mixes cacao and leather brilliantly, with omnipresent iris and an amber veiled by the bergamot. The base is subtle (vetiver and patchouli) and appears after an hour. It’s mysterious, almost oriental, with depth for sophisticated noses.

  21. Soft, elegant, and magical; it stands out in fresh environments, floral, and slightly sweet. Within minutes, it turns into sharpened wood and leather. The iris/lavender/sage combo is an extraordinary floral accord. Adding cacao/amber/cardamom makes it sweet, subtle, and addictive. The leather/vetiver/patchouli base gives it body and masculinity. Ideal for 25+, but usable from 18 to 99. Perfect for the office, formal meetings, romantic dinners, or events. Longevity 7h, projection 1h close to the skin. Fresh, iris, creamy, sweet, and woody.

Dior Homme 2011: only the memory of this jewel remains, as the reformulation has taken its toll. Now it’s very intimate, disappearing in just 3 hours close to the skin. What a pity.

  23. This is my boyfriend’s perfume. I thought I knew him well until one day, at his house, his fantastic opening reached me. I thought he had changed, but within minutes I recognized Dior Homme. I like it a lot, and he does too. The last time he bought it, he came back bewildered saying it didn’t smell the same and that he’d been cheated. He was right: it wasn’t the same anymore. I explained the reformulations and he was stunned. Now he’s frantically looking for stores with the old batch before it disappears.

I don’t have enough experience to be detailed, but it’s magnificent. I smell bergamot at first, which lasts a short while, then all the magic: iris, cacao, sweetness, and finally leather. Magnificent longevity, about 8 hours. It’s my signature fragrance for winter and autumn. Next purchase: Dior Homme Intense.

This perfume was a milestone in my taste, discovering the note that defines me: iris. A floral and complex aroma with talc-like touches that embrace that delicious cacao. If you find one in a store, don’t hesitate to buy it; you won’t regret it.

I’m not a fan of cacao, but I recognize a good construction. This perfume revolves around cacao and its play with iris to give it a powdery and bitter chocolate touch, less gourmand. It’s perfect for autumn; if it’s not cold, it might be too much, but if you like cacao, it’s very good. High longevity (8-9h), good projection (1-2h), high quality, not artificial, and well-blended. It gives more than it costs. Recommended.

An exquisite perfume. It’s a niche iris with delicious cacao. Better than Valentino Uomo, though not as good as Dior Homme Intense.
