I don’t have the PDM Carlisle, but I do own the Cassius. I’ve tried it twice and it’s very strong, not my favorite. The longevity is insane, lasting 10-14 hours with about 8 hours of projection. It has a curious, resinous, and herbal scent—I’m sure it’s the patchouli. I think it stands out more than the vanilla, nutmeg, and tonka bean; it also smells like saffron. The blend feels like tobacco with spiced herbs and a touch of licorice. I don’t think everyone will like it because it’s a dense, highly personal fragrance, but I don’t see anything negative about that. When wearing it, watch your sprays so you don’t bother anyone. I wouldn’t recommend it blindly; I think it’s quite surprising at first.
Same as the Carlisle and I grabbed it for $19.99. Absolutely beast.
Very similar to Carlsile and quite close to Boss Bottle Absolu…and searching for distant similarities with Red Tobacco, I own all four perfumes, not just ones I’ve heard of. Cassius is a great perfume for the price it has, and it would be even better if it cost more; highly recommended.
The first time I tried it, the opening was unpleasant due to its intense spiciness. But as we know, the first sprays are often weird because of the alcohol. After a few hours, the scent changed completely. I suppose it will stabilize as it macerates, but I noticed the difference in just two hours. Now, the description: it smells strong and intense, very spicy (at first, it smells like pepper and nutmeg to me). After that initial shock, which is impactful (it reminds me of ginger, that mix of sour apple, nutmeg, and earthy patchouli), the scent softens but remains present. The keyword is ‘energizing’; it makes me want to do things, it has drive and puts me in a good mood. As it dries down, it becomes more unisex (I’m a woman, but at first it seems masculine to me, reminiscent of the opening of Cacharel Pour Homme due to the spiciness). In the end, it becomes delicate, beautiful on both men and women. I wear it during the day without issues: fresh yet earthy, appropriate for winter, spring, and fall. Maybe it’s too much for summer, but I would still wear it. Also for daytime, though it really shines with that dark nighttime vibe. It depends on the outfit; I think it suits you better if you tend to dress elegantly. It’s a scent that dresses you, so it encourages you to pull off a suitable style. My rating: 9.5/10; I just wish the vanilla smelled stronger as it dried down. It’s noticeable, but very subtle. Although I think it will strengthen as it macerates.
What a beast of a fragrance. I don’t know the original PDM, but this one fascinates me. It’s a serious scent, slightly sweet and spiced. I find it perfect for occasions calling for something more intimate, because it invites people to sniff it often. Very good.
