Descripción
Black Origami by Maison Alhambra is an oriental floral fragrance for women. Launched in 2022, this composition features an olfactory pyramid designed by an unspecified perfumer. The top notes unfold with truffle, gardenia, ylang-ylang, jasmine, blackcurrant, tangerine, bergamot, and Italian lemon. The heart reveals orchid, spicy notes, fruity notes, gardenia, ylang-ylang, jasmine, and lotus flower. Finally, the base notes settle with chocolate, patchouli, vanilla, amber, incense, sandalwood, white musk, and vetiver.

Just added to Fragrantica, repeating what I said about Tom Ford’s Black Orchid: Black Origami is one of the best dupes from Maison Alhambra. I own both and can confirm the Arabic version is expertly crafted, and its performance… I’d dare say it outperforms the original. Though marketed as feminine, it’s perfectly unisex, so I encourage men to try it. If you’re eyeing Black Orchid but the price tags you out, know there’s a fantastic alternative for less than 1/4 the cost with great performance. Hope this helps! Cheers to the community!
Bought it just to get the Black Orchid DNA without breaking the bank. Not for everyone: it’s unisex but leans heavily feminine. If you’re a guy, unless you’re a French-cultured dapper type, it probably won’t suit you. Longevity and projection are weak for an Arabic fragrance.
It’s a unisex perfume a bit overwhelming due to having so many notes, but it has good projection and longevity. I recommend trying it before buying. I perceive a smell of many flowers and woods.
Complicated opening, almost spicy. My wife didn’t like it because it’s too potent. When it dries, the orchid and jasmine appear, and they stay, along with vetiver up front and vanilla in the back. It lasts about 4 hours with bursts, projects for an hour and a half, and stays close to the skin for more than 6. It’s not sweet at all; that’s the part I like most and what makes it unisex. Does it resemble Tom Ford? I’d say 85%, although the aromatic quality of TF is better, its opening is dirtier, deeper, and less aggressive. I don’t recommend buying it blind.
I have four Black Orchid inspirations from Tom Ford; of them, the Alhambra one is the worst because it doesn’t last long (though the scent is good). Then comes 24 Hours by Ard Al Zaafaran, which has the same scent but lasts longer. Second place goes to a clone from the Arab brand Parfum.AE (little known but very good). And first place, without a doubt, is Charriol Royal Gold Intense.
Ideal for autumn and winter; it can get heavy with more heat. Opening of truffle, citrus, and flowers. Unisex without fear, try it. Dry down of chocolate, vanilla, caramel, and the smoky touch of sandalwood and vetiver. It’s a powerful combination. It’s not for beginners or blind buys. Many people still don’t grasp its complexity, but it combines notes that are traditionally incompatible. I was gifted it and I loved it; it has good longevity and sillage. It doesn’t go unnoticed because it doesn’t resemble anything commercial. I recommend trying it on skin; it’s really worth it.
Obviously it’s a dupe, it resembles the DNA of Black Orchid, but the quality is far off; it’s a substitute for the original. It can smell like Black Orchid, but it simply isn’t Black Orchid. The opening is awful, then the notes settle and you smell a lot of patchouli.
Ideal for fall and winter; can get heavy in hotter weather. Opens with truffle, citrus, and florals. Fearlessly unisex, give it a shot. Dries down to chocolate, vanilla, caramel, and the smoky touch of sandalwood and vetiver. It’s a powerful combination. NOT for beginners or blind buys. Many might not grasp the design complexity at first, and that’s normal since it brilliantly combines notes that would traditionally clash. I was gifted this and absolutely loved it; great longevity and sillage. It never goes unnoticed because it doesn’t smell like anything else on the commercial market. I recommend at least trying it on your skin—it’s truly worth it.
I’ve had it for a couple of months and I love it. I’d say it’s 80-85% as good as the Tom Ford Black Orchid. The longevity on me exceeds 8 hours. If you buy it, don’t spray it on your clothes because the scent persists after washing. It’s totally unisex, slightly masculine. It’s my fragrance to wear with black outfits.
Very similar to Tom Ford’s Black Orchid, but it’s a true ‘English horse’: the opening promises a lot with truffle and spices, but after 5 minutes it fades, leaving only semi-bitter chocolate traces. It could be the Holy Grail for Black Orchid lovers, but it promises more than it delivers. For the price, it’s totally recommended for those who want to try niche perfumery, as the scent is very similar.
I’ve had this for a couple of months and I love it. I’d say it’s about 80-85% similar to Tom Ford’s Black Orchid. Longevity on me is around 8+ hours. One tip if you decide to buy: don’t spray it on clothes, because after washing, the scent might linger. Totally unisex, slightly leaning masculine. This is my go-to fragrance for wearing with all-black outfits.
Black Orchid. I have nothing to compare it to, but it’s a rich, complex chypre. Despite being intense, it’s not heavy. Maybe better for cold weather or autumn, but I wouldn’t rule out a spring night at an event. It steps out of the sweet gourmand fragrances. I personally loved it. It’s potent, though the longevity is short, and it might sound more masculine due to that pleasant wet leather note.
Black Orchid. I can’t say if this is a good dupe since I haven’t smelled them side-by-side. Here’s my take: it’s a rich, complex chypre. Despite the intense aromas, it’s not overwhelming. Maybe better suited for cold months or fall, but I wouldn’t rule out a spring night out. It steps away from sweet or gourmand scents; it’s something else entirely. Personally, I was enchanted. Potent, though the projection is relatively short and slightly masculine, perhaps due to that pleasant wet leather note.
I know it sounds weird, but I bought it blind on TikTok and was surprised it doesn’t smell like teenage chocolate. It’s strong, but it doesn’t cloy or overwhelm like I expected. If asked, it smells more mature, very similar to Ferrari Black.
I bought it knowing it’s unisex, difficult, and special. I wore it to my My Chemical Romance concert, and it fit the band perfectly; that funeral trail of dead flowers, that balance between anguish and resilience. Everyone I hugged that night thought it smelled rich and weird, and yes, it’s literally the song Helena turned into perfume.
I bought this perfume knowing it’s unisex, knowing it’s difficult, and knowing it’s special. And because it’s special, I wore it to my My Chemical Romance concert. I don’t think any perfume fits the vibe and music of that band better than this; the nearly funeral-like trail of dead flowers mixed with an allure of anguish and resilience. Everyone I hugged that beautiful night told me I smelled good and weird, and yes, I do. It’s literally the song ‘Helena’ turned into perfume.
