  It’s a gem I bought after falling in love with a decant. Upon opening, it smells herbal, with fresh Ylang Ylang and a prominent almond-heliotrope, all wrapped in the balanced sweetness of marzipan and the freshness of a blooming orchid. There are bursts of young roses, with a creamy, powdery sandalwood base and a dense, comforting touch of myrrh. It’s unisex with a feminine leaning, an exotic floral perfect for any weather except extreme heat. If you don’t like Ylang or orchids, don’t buy it blind. Compared to Initio’s Psychedelic Love, they share about 80% of the notes but express themselves differently: Azalea is sweeter and more herbal, while PL is more balanced and less potent. It’s nothing like Tom Ford’s Purple Orchid, which takes a different path and doesn’t quite convince me, nor Valentino’s Valentina Myrrh Assoluto, where the myrrh resin stands out much more; it’s delicious but on my skin it lasts less than 4 hours.
