  Atramental recreates the exact moment a tattoo artist disinfects the skin, mixes the ink, and puts the needle to work. The opening is fresh and sharp, but soon the cardamomo (and a hint of pepper), along with aquatic notes and hidden aldehydes, creates a medicinal disinfectant scent—very original and strange. The castoreum, present from the start in the background, begins to stand out for its ink-like facet and takes over the composition. Metallic, dry, balsamic, and smoky nuances emerge from the resins and saffron, vividly drawing the scene: watching the tattoo artist in full swing. The longevity is moderate and the trail is soft to moderate. For that reason, it suits me more with Etat Libre d’Orange than with Room 1015. Its only flaw is that, despite being original, it’s very unwearable. I’d recommend the Nevermore by Frapin more; it has that ink scent but is far more poetic and less clinical. Rating: 5
