The opening lasts about 10 seconds and smells like brandy alcohol (like from a bottle, but very soft). As it dries down, it’s more of an ‘olfactory sensation,’ similar to Escentric Molecules: it resembles oak wood with a faint vanilla base like Mancera Cedrat Boise, very soft and almost transparent. When I bought it, I thought it was anosmic, that you couldn’t smell it, but after trying it several times, I detected that sensation at a medium distance and on the skin. It seems like a molecular fragrance.
Everyone talks about Black Phantom or Intoxicated, even Angel’s Share lately, but after trying almost the entire Kilian line, I swear this Apple Brandy is the best from the house and one of the best fragrances I’ve ever tried. It smells simple yet possesses sublime depth and realism: a refined brandy that extracts the last sweetness from a caramelized and malted apple, with barrel wood everywhere. Sometimes it’s more volatile, other times fruitier, but always with delicious quality and intoxication. As it dries down, a malty note emerges like in Angel’s Share, making it definitively boozy. I agree with Elpro that it has molecular nuances and something undefined at first, but I believe it lasts and projects more than you’d think. It’s an amazing scent, unisex with a slightly masculine vibe, perfect for cold weather, dates, and formal events, though I’d wear it every day. It’s an inexplicable crime to discontinue it for the ‘on the rocks’ version, which doesn’t even come close. Luckily, the Alexandria version is immensely similar and keeps this excellence alive. Rating: 10/10, out of this world.
Nothing to add to what @Elpro and @SirCharlie said: it smells glorious, but at this price point, it’s a treat for yourself since it doesn’t project and fades quickly; sometimes you catch it, and I’ll confess, it’s intoxicating.
