Animale Animale: rough yet sweet, resinous, animalic, mature but playful. It’s a tongue-twister ranging from classic 90s fougères to modern gourmands. Strong opening, slightly alcoholic and synthetic. It’s for people with strong character who go ‘all in’. Citrusy at first (5-10 mins), then reveals its immutable identity. It sits between two poles: on one side, classic dark notes (tobacco, cedar, sandalwood, nutmeg, patchouli) that bring seriousness and maturity; on the other, honey, pineapple, vanilla, sharp citrus, and an aromatic sweetness of rose and lavender. What I smell most: honey, pineapple, and vanilla; then rose, lavender, and nutmeg; finally tobacco, cedar, and patchouli. They say it doesn’t evolve, but it has a subtle, slight evolution. After 2 hours, projection is moderate to strong and it evolves into herbal and floral notes (rose, lavender, sweet jasmine, sweet pea). The dry-down is woody and tobacco-like with a sweet trail. Brutal performance: heavy sillage for 4 hours, then skin scent for 12 hours (I’ve even reached 24). Climate: semi-casual, outdoors at night or cloudy days, nothing for sunny weather. Romantic for close encounters, though its mature character can be cloying up close. Better for groups, discos, or clubs. It overlaps with other scents. Nothing formal due to the synthetic nature; it would look ridiculous compared to higher-quality perfumes. I liked it, but not entirely due to the synthetic and mature aspects. What lowered my score was my mother’s opinion: I overapplied (more than 10 sprays, the nozzle is flimsy) and she said it smelled old. Don’t overapply or you’ll smell very mature. Scent: 8.5/10. Performance: 9.5/10. Versatility: 6.5/10. Price: 10/10 ($15-18 for 100ml). Final note: 8.5/10. I liked it quite a bit; it’s not the gourmand I expected given the mature notes, but it’s pleasant nonetheless. Performance is undeniable. A scent everyone should try for its price and availability. PS: Compared to Mugler Angel, the opening has over 90% similarity, which seemed incredible. The friend testing Angel right next to me seemed weird and gave up, as if comparing it lowered its quality. I felt Angel was more subtle, less rough, and natural. In development, it was just a first impression.

Sadly reformulated: I tested it today and it’s just a skeleton of what it once was. It has a faint resemblance to the previous version, but with a sugary aftertaste like Carolina Herrera, and lamentable performance and projection. I met it in 2001, and it was much denser and more intense than this current watered-down version, plus it lasted longer. On my skin: the old version had moderate to heavy sillage and lasted 10-12 hours; the current one is moderate to low and lasts a maximum of 4 hours. The old notes were strong, potent, and I detected a delicious mango scent (I suspect it was a mix of pineapple, vanilla, and honey). The current ones smell very diluted, softened, and ethereal. It could be a great fragrance for those who haven’t known it before, but for me, who heard it in the early 2000s, the current version is a disaster. I was thinking of buying it to remember those times, but thank God I tested it first and saved myself. Advice: test it before buying.

Where to begin?… This review is more like the description of a great love—those surprises that leave a mark. This is the perfume that defined my life, helped shape my tastes, and opened up conversations with so many ladies, earning compliments and even some primal attraction. I started using it in my early 20s after reading reviews and taking a risk; at first, I faced rejection because this beauty in its unique, quirky bottle stands out to people in my city and generation (post-90s), where most associate fresh, citrusy scents with cleanliness and what’s ‘acceptable’—think Hugo Boss, CK, or Paco Rabanne. I’d love to describe the scent, but previous reviewers have done it with such mastery that I admire them… I’ll just say it’s intoxicating, seductive, and wild, like an animal on the prowl.

Excellent scent from this Double Animal. Yes, it has some chords from Mugler’s A*Man, but fortunately, they are the best parts: the delicious gourmand notes, not the burnt or tar-like ones, which are absent here. As for performance, it’s slightly inferior to A*Man; with about 8 sprays, it lasts a good 10 hours with a moderate trail (less than arm’s length), but up close, it feels great. On my rebellious skin, it handles many applications without feeling overwhelming or suffocating; instead, it enhances the sweet, fresh pineapple note, a bit like Paco Rabanne Black XS L’Extrême. The price is excellent—equivalent to $20. The price-to-quality ratio is outstanding; I’d give anything to have a Chanel or Dior perfume with this kind of value.

I bought this fragrance based on reviews claiming it shares the DNA of Thierry Mugler’s A*Men. My dad used A*Men years ago, and it always seemed elegant and commanding. The opening of Animale Animale is absolutely overwhelming; the honey and green lemon (almost sour) combined with lavender hit your senses hard the first time you spray it. However, after 15-20 minutes, the feast begins. Nutmeg and sandalwood bring that powdery touch, while vanilla, honey, and lingering lavender create a sweetness that grabs attention. It was a blind buy, and I admit it’s not for everyone. It’s a scent with presence, nothing like the current trending fragrances. Still, I recommend it. Projection is good, and longevity on my skin is 8 hours.

At 10, I tested a perfume in a star-shaped bottle (Mugler’s A*Men) and was blown away. At 20, with Animale Sport, I thought it smelled the same, but after researching, I found Animale Animale was the original. Trying it was an experience! It’s sweet and vanilla-infused without being cloying, perfect for daily wear. At first, it smells strongly of honey and synthetic notes, but then it transforms into something deep, masculine, and reminiscent of dulce de leche with tobacco. Longevity is brutal—23 hours on my skin. The only downside is the atomizer; it sprays unpredictably and without force. A 9/10.

Note: This isn’t a full perfume, it’s an EDT with a complex blend: fruity with a strong opening of lime/pineapple and honey. No shift from start to finish. Sweet but not cloying, smells better than many pricier options. It’s heavy and mature, not for the young. The downside is the typical short longevity of an EDT at a bargain price (19-20€ on Notino). It’s a bit cheesy, but smelling this good is a luxury. Versatile for any time of day and great for 30+. Notes: lemon, amber, honey, sandalwood, cedar, musk, rose, ylang-ylang, pineapple, tobacco, vanilla, lavender. Family: Oriental, Spiced.

I was born in the 90s and my older brother used this perfume, I thought it was the best scent in the world. Now in 2024, they gave it to me and upon using it, wow! It was fantastic remembering it. Maybe it doesn’t smell 100% like the 90s version, but I loved it in this moment. It’s a very masculine aroma despite having lots of pineapple and honey. It lasts quite a bit even outdoors, has a strong opening but slowly releases its notes: vanilla with amber, ripe lemon… it’s like it has different scent capsules exploding throughout the day. Very impressive, I loved it.

This is a chaotic scent. Sweet opening but not cloying, slightly plastic that calms down as it dries. Comparable to Mugler? I don’t see it, because Mugler has identity and depth that this lacks. It’s enjoyable and evokes memories, but it tends to be linear and generic. I own it and enjoy it, even though I haven’t been able to get the Mugler in years. It’s not a copy; try a Jovan and you’ll see they’re similar. If you want something enjoyable without annoying your colleagues, it’s a safe buy and doesn’t cost a fortune.

It didn’t fully win me over, but it has its own signature and a very striking dry-down. I didn’t end up loving it, so I gifted it away; at the end of the day, it’s all about taste. I don’t see it as similar to A*Men; it feels more like a night-out scent for guys in semi-formal wear. You can definitely smell the tobacco, honey, and a slightly dusty pineapple. On my skin, it lasts 5 to 6 hours with about an hour of projection. It feels synthetic and very much like a classic from the 90s. My rating: 6/10.

A total masterpiece. I’d heard a lot about this perfume and its obvious resemblance to A*Men. I must say they share notes, but Animale smells a bit less sophisticated. It’s a blend of vintage perfumes with new trends, just like most from the 90s. I’d say it’s a mix between Lapidus pour Homme and A*Men, exactly like that. It’s a must-have if you like fragrances with strong projection, warmth, and a great trail. Plus, the price is incredibly convenient.

What a beast! It’s an exact dupe of A-Men by Thierry Mugler. First came Angel Woman with that caramel and milk aroma, then this hidden gem that prompted Mugler to release the men’s version. It’s the definition of a gourmand, attracts compliments (and some negative ones), but for me, it was a jewel on the skin. 100% recommended for winter nights; in the office, you’d overwhelm everyone’s nose within 5 meters. Rating 9/10 for being not very versatile.

I’ve been a Mugler fan for years; I own A Men, Pure Havane, Pure Malt (my favorite), Pure Tonka… Inspired by reviews, I bought this Animale, which is reasonably priced, but… nothing like the subtlety of Mugler. It has a brutal alcoholic opening, a strong punch that smells like a department store cologne. It might briefly remind you of A*Men, but as it dries, it drifts further away. I just can’t handle it, even on the coldest days.

This Animal Animal for men is a whole different story compared to the classic; fresh, summery, and 100% masculine. As a collector, I’d say it’s a timeless gem and very wearable today. Your circle will absolutely love it, even if they don’t say it out loud. Forget the negative reviews; this is an excellent blind buy that surprises and doesn’t break the bank on longevity. Cheers from Mexico to all the fragrance addicts.

This is one of the few I haven’t been able to pull off. The honey note is too much for me and gives me a headache. It’s not a bad perfume, but it just didn’t work for me. Usually, I buy blind based on notes and get it right 98% of the time, but not this time. I’ve put it away; maybe I’ll give it another shot this winter. If I can’t handle the pain, I’ll have to gift it. It lasts a long time and projects well.

What a pity this perfume is! I don’t know if I’m the only one, but on the opening, I found a nauseating smell, between sweat and urine that made me instantly gag. Once it dries down it feels better because that sweat smell fades and it leaves a honey note like Naxos and Amen. I wouldn’t buy it just for the opening because the idea of smelling that sweat for five minutes disgusts me.

Hey! Today I’m absolutely in love with this fragrance—it’s an absolute beast for the price, something everyone can afford. It starts with incredible citrus notes and then opens up with pineapple, vanilla, and a super soft tobacco vibe. I’m giving it a 9; it’s perfect for fall and winter chill, or even spring when it’s a bit crisp. Sweet, affordable, and highly recommended—go try it!

I used it again after 20 years and it sounds weird; even my boyfriend doesn’t smell it the same way anymore. It doesn’t sound sweet to me now, it has a milky note I don’t remember. I’m not sure if it’s the reformulation or my forty-something nose, but if I smelled it blind, I’d say it’s a different fragrance. I’ll let it sit for a few days and let you know if it stays the same.
maximus_olorus
I received a 7ml sample of Angel by Mugler, and I can say it’s 90-95% identical. I was blown away; it’s like they took the dust off Angel (which made it feel feminine) and masculinized it—voilà, Animal! Plus, I’m getting that strong blueberry note from Angel. Honestly, it smells more like Angel than any of the A*Men versions. The fragrance remains notable and exquisite.

Sweet, intoxicating, and very pleasant. The dry-down is addictive. At first, it seems like the honey might be overwhelming, but it’s the opposite: it becomes sober, stable, and sweet yet controlled. It’s not a powerhouse, but the scent is always present and earns plenty of compliments. Super recommended for romantic dates, social outings, or semi-formal gatherings.
René Laïlla
Price-to-quality ratio: Worth triple the cost. Powerful opening for outdoor use; 5 to 8 sprays and you’re in beast mode; for indoor wear or dates, 3 to 5 because it can be shocking at first. For a romantic outing, apply 5 to 8 times a couple of hours before, and you’ll be like a big caramel that everyone wants to eat.
Triple H
Wooww! Simply a sensual, provocative, and masculine fragrance. With exquisite honey, mature manly tobacco, juicy pineapple, and sexy rose, it’s a lethal weapon for celebrating love. On cold nights, its projection is brutal. Oh, and it’s super affordable. From now on, it’s a staple in my collection. Rating: 9.0/10.

I see it was reformulated and it turned out well. It smells very similar to Mugler creations; reminds me of Angel and Pure Havane. It’s not a bomb, it’s more skin-scent, which suits it perfectly. It’s synthetic but improves as it dries down. For the low price, it’s totally worth it.
FaFer24
Very sweet perfume; I love the honey and the dry-down, but unfortunately, it doesn’t have great longevity on my skin. It fades to skin scent after 3 to 5 hours, unlike others that last over 7. But I love the price and those sweet notes, so I recommend it. Rating: 8.8/10.
Ezequielfeliz
Honestly, I didn’t like it, though I only wore it once in summer, it sounded very outdated. I gave it to my dad and he loved it; he got tons of compliments on its scent and projection. It works great for my dad if he uses it at night when it’s cooler.
eliezerv63
Insane value for money. Smells 90% like Michael Jordan’s Legend, but with more punch and a vintage vibe reminiscent of Ted Lapidus. Perfect for mature men (30-70) in cold weather or at night. You feel the power; it’s pure animalic. Highly recommended.
Lucifer2409
The story of this perfume in my family is sweet: it was the one my dad used all the time when he was courting and dating my mom. It’s a pleasant aroma, slightly sweet but not cloying; I think it would look great on someone aged 25 to 30.
juanmanuel9009
The scent is delicious, smells like honey. But the disappointment is that the performance is terrible; Starwalker falls short in comparison. It doesn’t last more than two hours on skin and the sillage is skin-deep.
aromaticgenocide101
Hey, I’m intrigued by this fragrance because the reviews are split down the middle: some say it lasts but projects little, others say it’s a beast. I’d love to know what’s true before I buy a bottle.

Finally, a review for this beauty from Indonesia/USA/France. That’s why I paid it a well-deserved tribute on my channel: ‘Moy Olaf’ on YouTube. No doubt, it continues to surprise.
