I tried this perfume today; the opening is balsamic and very strong. The scent itself is too creamy and, like the bottle’s color, smells ‘white.’ I confess I didn’t like the opening much at first; it felt overwhelming and almost gave me a headache, but over time I started to like it more. It’s not the type of fragrance I usually wear, but I’m slowly daring to step out of my comfort zone. It reminded me a lot of another perfume: Shalimar Parfum Initial. They’re very similar, but with less patchouli; it’s even closer to the flanker Eau Sensuelle. They have that same creamy, fluffy sensation, although Habanita L’Esprit has more musk in the base. Both the sillage and the fixative are incredible; one spray and I’m good for a while.
This Molinard arrived by chance thanks to an online deal that made me take a risk and buy it blind. If I had to define it in one word, it would be TALC. After a strong opening, within a minute it’s already a creamy, soft talc. I’m surprised it’s not in the main accords, because it’s the one that reminds me most of baby powder from my childhood. Whenever I wear it, on those days I don’t want to smell much like perfume, people tell me I smell clean or like baby powder. The longevity is moderate to low and the sillage is almost non-existent on my skin. I like it, it doesn’t passion me, I don’t see it as a perfume per se, but as the scent of skin after applying powder. I’ll have to try it in warmer weather, maybe it’ll change a bit.
It’s a powerful bomb straight out of the bottle with an almond and nutmeg note that fades quickly. At first, I thought it was too vintage and wouldn’t like it, but after 20 minutes it turns creamy, floral, and has that clean, warm blend of musk, wood, and amber. It’s super pleasant, especially in the trail it leaves in the air rather than sticking to the skin. I see it as more feminine and perfect for everyday wear or going to work. The longevity exceeds 8 hours with a moderate sillage that expands if you over-spray. I liked it at first, but the more I use it, the more I love it. A blind buy that turned out great. P.S.: It’s currently at a good price online with an unbeatable quality-to-price ratio.
