I’m surprised to be the first to review this fragrance, which I bought just a few days ago. Honestly, it smells amazing and has nothing to do with the classic 1986 version. It’s a blend of citrus, fruits from the guaraná, vanilla with a chocolate touch, and a hint of mint, similar to D&G The One For Men. But this one wins on projection and longevity, lasting 6 to 8 hours. It’s fresh and great for daily wear; I wore it to work and the girls in the office approved.
Top-tier perfume, smells absolutely delicious. Since I can’t stand overpowering scents, this is my savior. People already ask me what I’m wearing, and it’s perfect for going out at night.
A classy woody oriental, seductive. It seems different from the original version, a darker sweetness. Quite persistent, about 4 hours without issues. Delicious. A bit hard to find.
Yesterday I saw this perfume in a store in Bogotá for a very attractive price: $35 for 200ml. After meditating (at that price I doubted it was original), I took the risk and brought it home. Freshly applied, it smells very similar to the classic Obsession, with lots of presence and sweetness, but after ten minutes it takes a complete turn: sweet fruity notes with vanilla, and the absence of musk gives it a more modern and clean touch; the anise adds a tipsy aura. The herbal accords of helichrysum, balsam fir, and vetiver reinforce the earthy character of the classic, although the other notes take it to a fresher, more dynamic gourmand territory, making it a magnificent reinterpretation of an old fragrance to fit current times. The dry-down is perhaps the best facet, as you perceive a kind of chocolatey cappuccino with vanilla and suede, very soft and pleasant. As for performance, it has 5 to 7 hours longevity on skin, with low to moderate trail and projection, attributes that are enhanced upon reapplication. It’s mostly nocturnal for cool climates, though it can be used during the day, and I think it can be over-applied without going overboard. It has good seductive potential due to its addictive notes. Despite its discreet performance, I’ve liked it a lot; moreover, due to its low price, the cost/benefit ratio is quite positive. It’s a classy and seductive woody oriental. You can tell it’s different from the original, with a darker sweetness. It projects well, lasting about 4 hours without fail. Delicious, although a bit tricky to pick up.
It smells very, very good, but you have to press your nose to the area where you applied it because it barely projects. I won’t go into the notes because I don’t know how to distinguish them; I can only say that it has a very pleasant smell, like clean with sweet fruits or vanilla, but very little trail and longevity.
It smells incredible, but you have to get your nose right up to your neck because the projection is weak. I can’t distinguish the notes, but it smells super clean with sweet fruits or vanilla, though it has poor sillage and longevity.
I’ve wanted to try it for a while and thanks to the generosity of Jerry Drake (thanks, friend) I have the opportunity. The first three minutes are a whiff of alcohol with citrus; it’s an Eau de Toilette, but after that time that masks its smell, it progressively opens up into an exquisite, well-treated powdery vanilla that is a pleasant experience. Captivating and seductive aroma, nothing as dark as the name suggests, more thought for marketing. It can be used day and night in spring, summer, and autumn. Longevity is quite good, about 10 hours. Its Achilles’ heel: the trail is very skin-hugging. It gives the impression of being a fragrance for intimate moments, so that person doesn’t peel away from you. If I find it at the right price, I’ll get a bottle.
I’ve kept 2 bottles of 125ml since its launch in 2013 and today I used it with 8 applications. I’ve received 3 compliments from women and 2 from men. What more can I say? This is a delight and I can still smell it on my skin.
I saved two 125 ml bottles since it launched in 2013, and today I’ve worn it 8 times. I’ve gotten 3 compliments from girls and 2 from guys. What more could you ask for? It’s a delight, and I can still smell it on my skin.
I bought it just for the price, which was very good. However, I was surprised: it’s very masculine, has good longevity, and, best of all, I liked it a lot. 100% recommended, although I know my opinion is subjective.
Dark Obsession for Men is a complex fragrance that I still can’t quite decipher right after spraying; it smells like ambroxan similar to Calvin Klein’s Obsessed for Men, but within minutes, a rich vanilla scent envelops you. Suddenly, there’s a soapy sensation mixed with fruity notes, which makes it hard to interpret. In the end, after wearing it for hours, it settles into a suede-like dry down. I’d say this is a fragrance best suited for night wear, in winter or autumn, or in cold climates to ensure better performance.
Dark Obsession for men… it’s a complex fragrance that I still can’t fully interpret. I feel it’s ambroxed like the Calvin Klein Obsession, but after a few minutes, a rich vanilla aroma wraps around you, then a soapy and fruity sensation appears. It’s hard to interpret. In the end, after hours, you’re left with a suede scent. I consider it to be used at night, in winter or autumn, or in cold climates so it performs better.
It smells like suede and bitter chocolate… an exquisite perfume. It doesn’t have a cocoa note, but it’s very perceptible and I’m not the only one who notices it; surely it’s the combination of other notes that recreates that sensation. Exquisite💪💪💪
It was my first perfume and my signature; if I had known they were going to discontinue it, I would have bought many bottles. With it, I won over my wife and have incredible memories, even though now I barely vaguely remember its scent, it brings me very good moments.
How curious that discontinued perfumes seem to come alive on their own. I found this Dark Obsession For Men on eBay for an insane price; it’s actually in my mom’s house (it belonged to my identical twin, 200ml). After about 8 sprays, it smells like the classic Obsession with dark fruits, citrus, spices, vanilla, and chocolatey touches: youthful, nocturnal, and designed for flirting, though with intimate projection. In the end, the warm green notes and suede create a surprising twist; just when I thought, like many budget scents, it would fall short, hours later I notice a delicious trail of chocolatey suede and vetiver that reminds me of A*Men. It’s not groundbreaking, but it has interesting nuances. Its longevity exceeds 3 or 4 hours, which is rare for Calvin Klein and worthy of praise. I almost gave it a bad rating for wanting to judge it too quickly, but seriously: it’s a pleasant flanker of a classic. It has more merit than other out-of-production fragrances. It deserves a calm trial to decide if you’ll put it on your shelf. It has something special, don’t believe me otherwise. Rating: 7.5/10
