I just received this wonderful perfume, I’m going to give it a few days to see how it develops, but so far it’s a pretty real and sophisticated leather with a marked red fruits accord. Days later I can say without reservation that it’s the best leather perfume I’ve used, it’s a marvel, a tribute to Córdoba leather made from tanned goat or kid skin. During the 16th and 17th centuries, Córdoba leather was a status symbol, mainly used on walls and furniture of royal palaces. That’s what this masterpiece smells like. Updating my review, I can tell you without fear of being wrong that it’s the best leather perfume I’ve ever tried and used in my life, it’s genius, it has a very real leather smell but at the same time (maybe because of the red fruits or the orange blossom) super attractive for women, I’ve received the most genuine compliments with this perfume. It’s a masterpiece.
Leather tanned in the warmth of spices, fine smoke rising among oriental resins and a warm sensation reminiscent of the interior of an ancient Arab workshop hidden in the medina of Córdoba… that’s Cordoban. Monegal takes the idea of classic Spanish leather and drags it into different territories. Here the leather doesn’t smell like tar, saffron, or shoe polish; it smells alive, dense, and slightly spicy, wrapped in amber, woods, and dry incense… it would seem very dark, but the truth is it gives the sensation of being a cool leather, contained by soft spices and some barely perceptible white flowers… it’s “almost fresh”. It has that vibe of a “versatile” and elegant perfume that fills the space subtly, as if the walls themselves were impregnated with smoke and hand-tanned skin. Cordoban is an oriental leather-based perfume with a lot of personality, far from the sweet-plastic-tarry trend that currently dominates perfumery. Exclusive (supposedly) hypnotic and quite addictive for those who enjoy perfumes with character.

I’m from Córdoba and it reminds me of the exit of this aroma that you breathe in the Jewish Quarter when you pass by the shops that sell Cordoban in spring. It gives me a vibe of Neroli Nasimba by MC, since it’s a blend that is appreciated from the start with a very marked leather and neroli, leaving a very particular and very rich aroma. I notice in the background an accord that comes out after a few hours, similar to the oud that MC handles in perfumes like Oud Stallion, mixed with a resinous touch like incense. Perfume monster, this hidden gem from Monegal.
