Coco Land by Andraus Parfums

Excellent perfume in every aspect. It’s a pride that my compatriot Samy developed something so great. It’s a milky, oily coconut with bright notes of sun, almond, and vanilla, which are what I perceive most. It has the necessary performance for warm and somewhat mild days, is very unisex, and its longevity is quite good (8-9 hours). A huge hit from Samy, my congratulations.

Immersing yourself in this scent is pure delight; I’d wear it every day. It’s already a treasure in my collection. I love coconut perfumes, and this achieves a perfect harmony between coconut, vanilla, rum, nectarine, and solar notes, creating the ideal summer scent by the sea. It’s not just a tropical coconut aroma; it evokes the freshness of a coconut caressed by the sea breeze. While it has sweetness, unlike other sweet perfumes that make me feel youthful, this conveys elegance and confidence in a sensual way. It’s not extremely elegant—it’s very tropical for smelling different—but its essence leans toward the freshness of the sea and coconut. I easily imagine wearing it with a light sage linen shirt enjoying a day at a luxury resort. Masterfully created by Arnaud, without a doubt, it’s one of the best coconuts I’ve had the privilege to try.

We’re almost closing out 2023, and the niche house ANDRAUS PARFUMS surprises us with two launchers: this COCO LAND and SUGAR LAND coming next week. COCO LAND is delicious, unique, and sophisticated. It opens with coconut, sea, nectarine, almond, and lemon; the heart features coconut milk, rum, sun, and cedar; the base settles into vanilla and musk. It’s an ode to Guatemalan coconut: fruity and citrusy opening with rum, followed by marine and solar notes that evoke a beach scene with the sun on your skin. Then the coconut becomes creamier and milkier, blending with the rum, while cedar, vanilla, and musk keep it going at the end with a sexy touch. Although not listed, my nose detects white flowers in the middle. Arnaud Fourre, newly joined by the house, shows his genius with a perfect balance where notes converge harmoniously, resulting in an exquisite and refined fragrance. Unisex and versatile, I see it for summer and late spring; even here in winter with sub-zero temps, it projects well at two hours and lasts 8 hours on skin. I can’t imagine it in summer—it’ll be a bomb. Samy Andraus continues to prove he’s the ‘Father of Reviewer Perfumes,’ a pioneer and the first to bring scents to market. Cheers to that!

I’m one of those who knows the Caribbean firsthand, and I say: they did it! It arrived last night, and COCO LAND opens with that classic nectarine, but with a lighter, sweeter citrus mixed with the warmth of coconut. As the lime softens, flowers emerge with solar notes that complement that juicy initial aroma throughout the journey. The top notes fade slightly by the third hour, letting the flowers bloom and the base notes shine, mainly rum, so it smells like you’ve put coconut in your hair while swimming in saltwater, then rubbed coconut oil on sun-dried skin, walked a path of hibiscus and lilies back to the boat, and sipped a rum margarita. It’s very delicate but super versatile in hot and cold climates because, as a composition, it’s subtle. It’s truly unisex: to me, a man, it smells creamy, harmless, unique due to its depth, and frankly delicious thanks to the ingredient cocktail. My 21-year-old sister loved it so much that if she had to choose one perfume, it would be this one. It lasts more than enough: three sprays (chest, elbows, wrists, and neck), and almost 18 hours later, I still smell it on my arms and jacket. A few meters away, like in an elevator, people would want to be on vacation on a boat; a bit more downwind, everything smells good. I think it works in professional settings; I make a living sailing with clients, so I’ll try it. If you work in an office, maybe just one on the chest is enough for that clean, implicit aquatic aroma. By ‘implicit aquatic,’ I mean the fragrance is enhanced by the scents of the ocean due to the origin of the notes. I recommend it if you’re curious; decanting it for a winter tropical getaway would be the perfect way to adopt the right mindset.
