Hunter Killer Man by Armaf

I bought it looking for an alternative to Mancera’s Red Tobacco because Arab scents have raised the bar up to niche houses, and my obsession with tobacco made me drop that one to vary my daily routine. From Armaf’s Killer: at first, it was weird, maybe because it was the first splash and came out half-alcoholic with a spicy kick of pepper and green apple, something I didn’t like and was a bit off-putting. That apple gave a citrusy touch at the start that reminded me of Light Blue by D&G or a K from the same house, so much so that I thought, ‘ugh, this is good for summer!’ But it didn’t stop there; the apple stayed linear throughout the dry-down and mixed with the patchouli until it felt somewhat feminine, a bit like Vie Est Belle, but the amber and vanilla gradually transformed it into something soft, almost soapy, like those creams your brown-haired Natura mom uses, maybe I confused the nut, to finally bring out a tobacco note, soft pipe tobacco, well-executed, refined, almost imperceptible. That gives it robustness and puts it in the masculine category. I’m a tobacco fanatic; if it weren’t for Toscano Leather being what suits me best, Mancera would take the prize, and this fragrance doesn’t resemble it much. It has its nuances, some reverse notes that remind you of it, or maybe if you’ve only heard of it a couple of times, you could confuse it, but in my opinion, it lacks a more marked tobacco, something that makes you feel it could be a strong and elegant fragrance, but that doesn’t stop it from being a very good option. Its dry-down seems flexible, for warm fresh days, for daily use, and at its laughable price, it’s more than wearable. I’ll let it oxidate for a while to see if it brings out more character. Overall, for people under 30, I see it as excellent; young women will love it, as I said, because during its evolution it recalls some highly coveted prestigious perfumes in the youth world. I’ll edit later on how the longevity is. I’ve had it on for about 5 hours and it’s already in its final notes, but throwing out bursts every now and then. In terms of projection, being generous with 4 or 5 sprays, the first two hours project very well, then it drops to something more personal, but if someone is next to you, they’ll perceive it. Scent: 9/10, Projection: 7/10, Longevity: 9/10, Price: 10/10. Edit: I let it macerate for about 3 weeks, and honestly, it improved quite a bit; the tobacco is much more noticeable and has more resemblance to Red Tobacco Intense than the original, honestly surprising me. It’s lasting longer than budgeted, and I think I’ll buy another bottle; it’s awesome if you like tobacco and spices, and in terms of longevity, it’s already been 7 hours and it’s holding firm.

It reminds me of Natura, like Homem Tato or Essence Ato, because of that strong pepper vibe, though without giving you the sneezes the others do. I don’t notice a resemblance to Red Tobacco. It’s spicy, with lavender, woods, and amber, closing with vetiver. Neither at the start nor at the end (8 hours) does it smell like tobacco, unless it’s very subtle. Good scent. Medium sillage; it sticks to clothes for over 10 hours. On skin, I’ve worn it for 2 hours and still smell it on my neck, which is rare because fragrances don’t last long on me.
