More than 300 ingredients? 🧐 The perfume opens with heavy, dense, and very dry tobacco that rules the composition. It literally smells like opening a box of cigars; it’s so realistic you can picture it. In the dry down, secondary notes accompany but don’t dominate. Tabac Doré is hyper-masculine, following in the footsteps of Baque de Slumberhouse and Tobacco Oud by Tom Ford, so if you like tobaccos like this, you need to smell it. It’s not the vanilla-tobacco combo many expect; it does have vanilla absolute, but it doesn’t matter. Warning: it stains clothes and skin, leaving a brown mark that looks like a bruise on light skin. It’s masculine and versatile, works day and night. Good performance. Is it worth $350? Yes. Is it the best non-sweet tobacco perfume? Absolutely. Prove me wrong…😌🍿
I was looking for a serious, dominant tobacco, but the oud still carries a lot of weight, as in other creations by Dimitri. Here, the oud isn’t balsamic or buttery; without as much sweetness as Sans Fleurs, it lands on a profile similar to his Lao Oud. If Sayat Nova’s oud had a touch of peach, here the nuance is clearly tobacco. It makes me feel comfortable and cozy, like sitting in front of a fireplace; it’s winter-autumnal and more on the masculine side. Performance is good for a natural fragrance, lasting at least 6-8 hours on skin, though projection drops significantly after the first hour.
Smells good, but once I step out, what I notice most is the oud amplified by my skin, not what the label says. The oud is the star from start to finish: strong at first, then settling into the background. Within minutes, tobacco appears—dark and dense, nothing aggressive, but with a woody touch that shines for the first hour and a half. It then evolves into something resinous and balsamic, with a sweet note that adds versatility and prevents it from being too gloomy. It feels natural and high-quality, with decent performance, though the price is excessive. It’s masculine, ideal for cold weather and personal wear. Warm and pleasant, but in this price range, I think there are better oud-tobacco options. I’ll keep testing.
