L’Eclat is what Rituals launched to replace L’Essence as a base for mixing with their other fragrances. Before, it made perfect sense because L’Essence was a dense, unisex scent featuring musk and ISO E Super, but L’Eclat doesn’t seem like such a great idea. L’Eclat is cheerful, luminous, and much airier, with a citrus opening that gives way to mimosa and sandalwood—a floral yet very creamy vibe. I absolutely love it, but I wouldn’t use it as a base for anything because it’s so soft; I feel like any other perfume would overpower it. Even though I haven’t tested it, my gut tells me it wouldn’t work. I can see myself wearing it on sunny spring mornings and summer evenings. The sillage is moderate, and unfortunately, the longevity isn’t great—around 4 hours—which suggests it wouldn’t contribute much as a base. It’s a shame that L’Essence is gone; maybe it disappeared because it seemed too masculine rather than truly unisex, since I adore it. If you liked it for solo wear or mixing, I’d suggest Amber Fusion by Zara as an alternative. Scent: 7/10, Longevity: 4.5/10, Sillage: 6/10, Value for money: 5.5/10, Versatility: 7/10, Packaging: 8/10. Would I buy it again? Maybe.
Top fragrance, smells completely different from any other men’s perfume I’ve tried. It’s original, powerful, and works for any occasion. Maybe it suits fall or winter best, but with moderation, it can be worn year-round. Ideally, wear it when dressed up in formal attire. It has a fresh vibe yet is also dense and earthy, which is intriguing. Hard to describe, it’s basically a creamy sandalwood—very distinctive and pleasant. It smells great, leaves a trail, and lasts forever on my skin. For me, it’s a 10; without a doubt, it’s become one of the best in my collection.
Excellent fragrance; it smells completely different from any other men’s perfume I’ve tried. It’s original, potent, and versatile enough for any occasion. It might shine more in autumn or winter, but with moderation, it works year-round. Ideally, wear it when you’re dressed up and in formal attire. It has a fresh vibe yet is also dense and earthy, which is quite intriguing. It’s hard to explain—it’s basically a creamy, very distinctive, and pleasant sandalwood. It smells great, leaves a nice trail, and lasts incredibly long on my skin. For me, it’s a 10; it has definitely become one of the best in my collection.
