Maybe Malt is the weakest link in the discovery set. It opens with malty, boozy, and slightly sweet notes, joined by marine, salty, and faintly sour accents, creating an odd, slightly dirty—but not foul—blend. I don’t think the combination works; for malt, beer, or whisky scents, Nasomatto’s Baraonda or Zoologist’s Harvest Mouse deliver better results. Still, I urge you to try it like everything else from the brand, since that boozy character is interesting. Rating: 5/10. Tested from the Brand Discovery Set.

Honestly, the combination doesn’t work for me; for malt, beer, or whisky scents, Nasomatto’s Baraonda or Zoologist’s Harvest Mouse are artistically superior. It’s the most realistic beer scent out there; the only issue is figuring out when to wear it.
To be clear: right out of the bottle, it smells like olive brine, and as it dries down, it retains the scent of the wooden floor of an old apothecary shop, soaked in bulk food, meat, spilled liquors, and everything else left behind after mopping. Seriously, this smells more like a barrel where rum or whisky is distilled—a dirty, woody aroma that seems to try to emulate malt yeast. It’s interesting, though clearly not made to please everyone, which I appreciate. For me, I find it hard to separate my nose from my arm once I’ve applied it.
