Starts with clear citrus notes, like the 1872 pineapple from the house, but with a spicier, green, resinous-woody twist. I’ve worn it in winter and summer, and in each season its woody or citrus side shines, making it impossible to categorize; I think it’s perfect for any time of year, day or night. It’s a delight from start to finish, with an identifiable trail on skin after 12 or 14 hours and notable projection that invites moderate application. Over-applying isn’t an issue since the scent is rich and balanced, nothing showy, with undeniable elegance, though its performance makes it unnecessary and its price prohibitive. This fragrance is a true gem of perfumery, something everyone should try to feel the ultimate expression of hedonism on their skin, leaving a trail sure to draw sighs.
