It starts strong and plastic, ruining that pretty rose that later wakes up. The indolic, rotten fruity opening creates a repulsive barrier, but like the night before day, as the rubbery tone fades, the floral nuances take over. It’s a turbulent journey wrapped in nylon that burns off in an hour and a half to leave behind a delicate floral soul, a perfect calm after the initial storm.

Thanks to Darkbeat, I fell in love at first sniff. It’s floral, sweet, with spectacular longevity and a just-right sillage. It doesn’t smell like plastic like others do, though scent is subjective. I wore it yesterday and can still smell it on my clothes today. I catch the rose, but with the oud, I get lost because I’ve never smelled one so sweet. Buying it immediately: the price is great. Scent: 10, Longevity: 10, Sillage: 7, Value: 10, Versatility: 8, Overall: 9.

  3. It smells like plastic mattresses, irrigation hoses, and boiled snails; a marasmus smelling of childbirth and bloody muscles that makes me want to run. This is natural Laos oud. Adding a rose to this carnivorous feast tames it, but my aversion is so strong it twists my stomach. It smells like a slaughterhouse in an abandoned shed, an apocalyptic terror. For me, it’s a genetic nightmare, sinister and morbid, like a mix of Alien and Texas Chainsaw. (This is my perception; I have nothing against those who love pure oud).

  4. Rose and Oud executed with delicate femininity. Although Laos Oud could scare you, here it’s not dirty or animalistic, but powder-puffed roses over a soft, elegant woody base. It opens with fresh, mentholated rose and chamomile, like a formal, powder-puffed floral infusion. Then the rose fades in intensity, revealing that warm, cozy woody base. The dry down is floral, warm, and fine, very elegant. It’s beautiful despite being a cliché combo. I see it as not very unisex; it’s a hard rose to wear for me, powder-puffed and refined, a showstopper for a woman. Performance is moderately high, 7 to 8 hours on skin, moderate sillage, ideal for fresh climates and night wear. It’s a gem at this price, highly recommended only for women seeking powder-puffed roses with a woody base.
