  1. It left me a bit cold; I expected something sweeter and incense-like, but it turns out to be a rough, harsh tobacco, like a cat’s tongue. I’m glad I tested samples before buying the full bottle, because otherwise, I would have had the worst letdown ever. It starts with rough, spiced, slightly smoky tobacco—very coarse, nothing fine or delicate, just rough and gritty, though understated and not trying to grab attention. Gradually, iris emerges, floral and not powdery, staying subtle and in the background; there the tobacco sweetens and I start to like it more: it’s a sweet floral tobacco with a resinous, fresh touch, very vintage, reminiscent of a good classic men’s cologne. It’s not my favorite style, but I recognize its worth. On my skin, it doesn’t evolve much and stays the same until it fades. Performance is moderate, lasting about 6 to 7 hours, but with very low projection: it’s okay at first, then decays quickly and clings to the skin in less than half an hour. Shaky performance for an “eau de parfum.” Because it’s so subtle, it works for any season and time of day, it’s versatile, suits any occasion, especially work. I was a bit disappointed, but it’s my fault for having preconceived notions about the scent; setting that aside, it’s not bad for a formal, classic cut. If you’re looking for something classic but more sophisticated, it could be a good option and the price isn’t bad.
