Darkbeat
It feels like a humble, honest niche house with high-quality fragrances at very affordable prices. Any nose lover can enjoy their unique creations without breaking the bank. Mille et un Délices is unisex, sensual, and mysterious; while it sometimes leans feminine, it’s such an androgynous femininity that a man can wear it effortlessly, adding mystery to a masculine package. The opening is a warm, fresh, fruity sweetness—nothing heavy or exaggerated, just very pleasant. Then, quickly, saffran gains presence with pink pepper and musk, shedding that initial freshness to reveal a musky, sweet, and spicy scent with beautiful fruity nuances where the lingering traces of patchouli shine through. From here, the balsamic patchouli dives into a warm base of musk and amber, where light fruity and spicy notes swirl, making the fragrance feel like a creamy, sweet, comforting coat. Performance is excellent, with high longevity lasting over 9 hours on skin; the sillage is heavy for the first hour before dropping to moderate, which is no bad thing. It’s one of those perfumes you put on and people immediately notice. I see it for cold and temperate climates, suitable for day or night wear, but not recommended for summer, though a cool, breezy night could be a great occasion. For me, it reminded me at times of a more unisex version of current feminine fruity-chouli scents like La Vie Est Belle, Olympea, or Sì, but here the sweetness isn’t as scandalous—it’s more refined and restrained, making it much easier for a man to wear. That said, I only notice that feminine touch in the final dry-down, and even then, it’s not excessive. If you’re looking for an online fragrance that matches today’s perfumeries in quality and price, this is a candidate worth considering.
