Pure, realistic violet—subtle, simple, and elegant. It barely lasts on my skin, though it could linger on clothes for days. It moves with incredible sillage; I was surprised by how it appears on windy days. It seems invisible until a turn or arm movement reveals it. It holds its own against any EDP.

I was surprised by how it appears with a breeze; it seems invisible until you move your arm and suddenly, it emerges! It has nothing to envy from an EDP.
Beautiful opening, something truly special and personal. Powdery with notes that drive me crazy (soft violet, iris, talc, parchment or book pages…), but… it lasts a mere breath, like a body mist (even though perfumes usually last quite a while on my skin). What a pity, considering the hefty price tag. I have the eau de toilette; I’m not sure if an eau de parfum exists.

I’m a huge Annick Goutal fan for her extreme olfactory realism, which is rare these days. The Violette smells like a sprig of gorgeous violets with leaves rustling in the breeze—sweet, innocent, natural, simple, and romantic. It’s not sensual or loud, just irresistible and comfortable. It starts fresh and playful, surrounded by greenery, then dries down to a clean, soapy, talcum-like scent with a soft cedar base. It’s complex without seeming so; the violet shifts throughout the wear, just like in real life. It’s the best violet scent I’ve ever tried, perfect for spring and all year round. The trail is strong for the first two hours, then lingers on the skin for 5 to 6 hours. It’s coquettish, fresh, and natural—I love it and it always makes me smile.
I know several creations by Annick Goutal, and one thing I always applaud is the extreme realism of their notes; today, amid so many restrictions, achieving that goal deserves applause. La Violette is the most beautiful sprig of violets, full of leaves dancing in the wind, gifting us their fragrance with drops of sweetness and an aura of innocence. It’s not a grabby perfume nor one with an impactful personality, but its naturalness, simplicity, and that romance make it irresistible. It’s impossible not to feel identified, comfortable, and happy. La Violette is delighted to be just a beautiful, sweet violet. My olfactory spiral starts with a natural, fresh, and playful violet surrounded by vegetation; after a couple of minutes, it turns sweet, clean, soapy, and talcum-like, with a soft cedar base. You can wear it all day. Although the composition isn’t complex, the perfume is never linear; the violet stays in motion, just like the flower throughout the day. It’s the best violet I’ve smelled so far, perfect for spring and appropriate for any moment. Its trail is moderate to strong for the first two hours, then skin-close. Longevity is 5 to 6 hours, an excellent option. I love wearing you; you make me smile.
I’m obsessed with violet florals, and this one is a total winner, but a heads-up: it’s super cloying, even more so than Violettes de Toulouse.
