Just grabbed a vintage bottle, almost identical to the photo, probably from the late 70s. Upon opening it, straight-up pepper and spices! I almost regretted spraying it on (especially since the atomizers on these gems shoot the liquid like hairspray). Luckily, the shock lasts about 5 minutes, then the florals and woody talc kick in. Very rich, authentically vintage. Though with these pieces, it’s hard to know if it was its original scent, as some notes fade and others get more pronounced over the years. But if it was created in the late 30s, it must have been this intense just to compete with kitchen smells, office tobacco, leather, and wooden furniture… A perfume that brutally breaks through our sanitized modern glass.
