Descripción
Xerjoff La Tosca is a floral chypre fragrance for women. Launched in 2015, this composition was created by perfumer Chris Maurice. The top notes feature green mandarin and Italian lemon, offering a vibrant citrus opening. The heart reveals floral and herbal elegance through violet leaves, eucalyptus, and Bulgarian rose. To close, the base notes combine the warmth of amber and Madagascar vanilla with the depth of patchouli and musk, creating a sophisticated and enduring structure.

It was hard to write this because it smells like an olfactory Scherzo: it enraptures some and leaves others perplexed. It starts with green, harsh citrus mixed with a sweetened, boozy, and raspy note, creating an aura that’s unnatural, almost plastic. This opening lasts over half an hour for a top note. Then the second act kicks in with simultaneous woody and citrus chords, like a polyphonic song. Slowly, the third act enters with vanilla, stealing the spotlight without the previous chorus disappearing. At 2-3 hours, the vanilla shines with a pleasant, shareable eucalyptus trail, since the scent is controversial at first and many repel it. At 8-10 hours, the intensity remains brutal, though the trail doesn’t reach as far. Then a sweet, endearing accord arrives, with a soft, high voice that lingers on the skin for hours and on clothes for days. Never buy it blindly or judge it after just a few hours. It’s one of my favorites, and I know it will make me stand out, for better or worse.
I struggled to find its spot. I tested it in various climates and it always felt synthetic, ozonic, and camphoraceous, like stagnant water with antifungal. A dry spring day finally made the magic happen: after the violets, it shifts into a strong eucalyptus note before returning to that ozonic character. It’s not overpowering but projects well and lasts until the shower. I see it as unisex-feminine for mid-season. I didn’t love it, but it’s novel, with a touch similar to Alaia (another saint I’m not devoted to, though I liked this one more). Pleasant: 5/10 Interesting: 7/10 Versatile: 7/10 Original: 8/10
It’s a classic-profile perfume in the best sense, high quality with brutal performance and full of nuances. Unfortunately, it reminds me of my ex-boyfriend’s clothes; I don’t know what fabric softener he used, but it was divine. I imagine that’s the ozonic part. These violet leaves in La Tosca are truly a delight. This is genuinely a clean scent, not those cheap ambroxan vibes.
It’s a true classic with brutal quality and tons of nuance. The only downside is that it smells like my ex’s clothes, with that divine fabric softener they used. I guess that’s the ‘ozonic’ vibe. The violet leaves in La Tosca are a delight; it smells clean, nothing like those cheap ambroxan vibes.
