Born in Nice, France, during the Italian occupation of the Second World War, Olivier Creed grew up in a family with a rich legacy in the perfume industry. As a sixth-generation perfumer of the House of Creed, Olivier immersed himself in the world of fragrances from an early age. He showed an insatiable curiosity and a passion for creativity, which later became the driving force behind his career in perfumery.

Olivier’s education was not limited to the art of perfumery; he studied art and painting at the prestigious École des Beaux-Arts in Paris. This artistic background would later play a crucial role in his approach to creating perfumes. In addition, Olivier’s experiences with the renowned French painter Georges Braque instilled in him a deep appreciation for the interconnection between art and fragrances.

Olivier’s career as a perfumer began when he was only 18 years old. Encouraged by his father and grandmother, he took the reins of the family business and focused on the fragrance side. Under his visionary leadership, the House of Creed evolved from being a bespoke boutique fragrance house into a globally recognized brand.

Olivier has been responsible for some of Creed’s most popular modern fragrances, including Green Irish Tweed, Silver Mountain Water, and the iconic Aventus. His unique approach to perfume creation, which blends traditional techniques with innovative ideas, has earned him the title of “the most elegant perfumer in the world”.

Olivier’s fragrance inspirations are deeply rooted in his passion for art, travel, and nature. He often travels around the world to source the finest raw materials for his creations, such as the rarest Mysore sandalwood or the most fragrant lemons from Sicily. This dedication to using natural ingredients only contributes to the exceptional quality of Creed fragrances.

Olivier’s artistic background is evident in his approach to creating perfumes. He views each fragrance as a work of art, blending colors, textures, and aromas to create a masterpiece.

Today, Olivier Creed runs the House of Creed together with his son, Erwin Creed. Together, they create handcrafted fragrances at their factory in Fontainebleau, France. The father-and-son duo share a love of sports, adventure, and creativity, which is evident in their work.
