The olfactory pyramid opens with top notes of coriander, rosemary, aldehydes, basil, orange, lavender, bergamot, and lemon. The heart reveals a blend of cinnamon, balsam fir, carnation, honey, geranium, jasmine, and rose. The base settles with incense, oakmoss, patchouli, benzoin, sandalwood, amber, styrax, cedar, musk, and vanilla.

  • At first, the opening was strong due to the aldehydes and non-acidic citrus with sage and basil, but the heart is where it gets interesting: non-pungent cinnamon with jasmine, geranium, and soft honey. The base is a classic long-lasting patchouli, amber, sandalwood, and vanilla, with a musk that isn’t generic or overly sweet. The 90s woods are soft but carry that era’s charm. It’s discontinued, and now I wear it for formal situations—not overly elegant but very interesting due to the cinnamon handling. It has a quality current houses would envy. Moderate trail but lasting more than twelve hours. It’s not just for winter; with its florals and vegetals, it holds up in heat too. If you like 90s fragrances like Safari or Jazz, this deserves consideration.

  • Although I’m a Bogart fan, the first time I used Witness, I didn’t get it; it felt overwhelming, maybe due to the heat or my bad mood. But after thinking about it and testing it several times, I made a 180-degree turn. The opening concentrates all the notes with a citrus accent, then it smells like walking through a forest rubbing the resin of the trees. It’s the best woody fragrance I’ve tried, with natural sweet tones of wild honey and cinnamon stick, plus a persistent smoky note. Sometimes it sounds like a barbershop with a clean musk. Although it’s robust, its projection is moderate, which amplifies its infinite nuances. In terms of longevity, it’s a beast. An evocative, complex, and accomplished work. A lost treasure. Rating: 10/10.

Among Bofifa’s treasures, this Witness has left me impressed by its quality and evolution on the skin, with a fantastic dry-down. At first, it seems a bit confusing, as if all the notes wanted to come out at once, but from the mid-stage it unfolds all its beauty and power. It’s a pearl: the honey and citrus create an incredibly warm, green, and woody atmosphere. An absolute-level aroma kaleidoscope that makes you appreciate how well perfume was made back in its day. Simply fantastic, thanks, friend.

  • Witness is that forgotten gem by Jacques Bogart that I stumbled upon yesterday in the town of my youth. What’s fascinating is how perfectly its name fit: it witnessed my student years (1991-95), my train rides, the disco nights, and my quinceañeras. I never thought that perfume shop had anything interesting until I spotted a Samsara and decided to look for it. It’s a woody oriental with a chaotic opening reminiscent of Lapidus, then it releases honey, carnation, and a cinnamon sweetened with benzoin and amber, all wrapped in incense that provides comfort. In the end, sandalwood and patchouli take over. It waited 25 years on the shelf and now it’s with me to keep witnessing what’s to come.
