My first foray into niche perfumes and it was a letdown. I paid a fortune expecting magic, but it smells like an old lady, synthetic vanilla, and bubblegum. As a designer fragrance, it’s great. Neither I nor anyone around me could handle it. Luckily, they sent me a sample of Ylang Gold, and that one I actually liked. Forget the Watch.
It was my first foray into niche perfumes, and it disappointed me quite a bit. I expected something incredible because it’s niche, but the impression was that you don’t need to spend a fortune for a good smell. At the designer level, it smells strongly of old lady, synthetic vanilla, and bubblegum; neither I nor my circle liked it. With the purchase, they sent me a sample of Ylang Gold, and that one I absolutely loved. I do not recommend Watch.
The scent is a punch of neroli, vanilla, and sweet peach that gives you energy and good vibes. It’s delicious but complex—definitely not for diabetics. At first, it’s a creamy, youthful blend, then the neroli dances with the vanilla and a musky touch. Yes, it smells a bit synthetic, but it’s still delicious. It’s a bomb: a wide trail for the first 4 hours and lasts for days on clothes and skin. Doesn’t matter if it gives you a sweet coma.
To me, Watch is 95% sweet neroli—the kind that smells like bubblegum to many people. The rest is a fruity opening that dries down into a powdery vanilla. I wear it for dinners and semi-formal events; it’s not original or groundbreaking, but very feminine. It has notable sillage and lasts over 10 hours on me. I’m not sure if they reformulated the juice, but they did change the bottle. I prefer the old bottle; the new one is minimalist, but the old one feels more original. Scent 7.5/10, longevity 10/10, sillage 8/10, value 7/10, versatility 7.5/10, packaging 7.5/10. Yes, I would buy it again.

I’m not sure if they reformulated it, but they did change the bottle; I prefer the old one—the new one is more modern but less original. Honestly, I haven’t gotten rid of it because the bottle is spectacular. The scent is practically identical to Velvet Vanille and Truth or Dare, which I already owned and sold. It’s overwhelmingly sweet, smells like banana bubblegum that tickles your molars, and doesn’t evolve at all, so it never transitions into a phase I’d enjoy. Kilian has similar nuances but they’re distinct perfumes. Watch is a masterpiece: synthetic yet delicious, sweet, creamy, youthful, and cheerful, packed with energy and good vibes. Those expecting something elegant and floral will be disappointed because it has nothing to do with that. The quality is brutal—it’s a beast in projection and longevity: 12 hours on skin and days on clothes. I adore Watch by Micallef; I recommend it if you’re looking for quality with a bubblegum scent.
