Missed Terre D’Hermes with a touch of Santal 33. I snagged it on Amazon Mexico for under $15, and it’s been my best buy for price and quality. It performed great from the start: strong for two hours, moderate for three, and skin-scented for another three. What I loved most is how it evolves; it starts as pure wood, but by the four-hour mark, the musk takes over. Occasionally, there are animalic waves that are very masculine. Overall, I liked it.
A vintage vibe but with its own personality. The quality isn’t the best, and the alcohol stings a lot at first, but then it calms down and becomes pleasant. Notes of dried orange peel, creamy wood, spices like pink pepper, and a fresh green touch. It also smells like a wet forest, damp earth, that petrichor after rain. People have asked what it is and how good it smells; one person said it reminded them of their childhood, maybe due to that petrichor connection. If you’re looking for something off the beaten path, it has a unique, rarely heard voice. It’s discreet, cloudy, singular, and melancholic—very old-school. Projects for a couple of hours and lasts between four and five. Ideal for rainy days, autumn days in the square, or Tarkovsky moments. Not a blind buy.
Basically: it smells good, but it’s not for wearing on the body. It sounds very ‘older’ and vintage, so I don’t see it fitting any age these days. It could work as an ambient room scent, but the problem is that it’s strong and projects a lot, so that doesn’t work either. If it were softer, it might be feminine, unless it mixed with vetiver, incense, or pepper, which would make it unisex. Still, I can’t see an occasion to wear it on skin or clothes. Someone might like it because, to repeat, it’s not unpleasant. But it’s not a blind buy. I saw it in Chile for $12.
