Smoky whisky, tobacco, and moss. If you’ve tried Baraonda, just remove the honey, keep the woody base, and add a touch of smoke. It’s as elegant as almost any whisky perfume, but the smoky notes give it a casual vibe. Perfect for cloudy days or going out at night. Unlike other fragrances from the brand, this lasts long and projects well. Definitely one of the house’s best.
A completely different olfactory experience. For trained noses. Its unique notes give it away. I clearly detect moss, a bit of smoke, and a floral note I assume is heather. I don’t pick up on leather or whisky. If it were just opium, I wouldn’t buy the bottle, but as an olfactory experience, it delivers.
I’m not sure how the original Tartan smells, but this limited edition smells like (lots of) smoke and whisky, like an Islay cask. In the actual notes, I sense something bread-like, perhaps barley, some earthiness, woods, and that sweetness that could be opium. Very noteworthy. Like other ‘alcoholic’ fragrances such as Baraonda, it radiates warmth. The green notes aren’t as prominent as the warm ones; they appear and disappear mixed together, standing out more in the dry-down. In the original, they were more noticeable. A fragrance with very well-blended notes; I prefer the dry-down over the opening, though it reminds me of Bentley Absolute but in a niche context.
