Sarah McCartney was born near Saltburn beach, a unique mix of 75% Teesside and 25% Cockney. Her interests ranged from music and writing to yoga and weaving. As a child, McCartney felt fascination with creating magical spells and aspired to be a witch. At 16, she bought her first bottle of Diorella, which sparked her interest in fragrances. McCartney studied mathematics and sciences, practiced music and French, wrote books about branding and online marketing, and learned to dance Argentine tango. For 14 years, McCartney was the editor-in-chief of Lush, a popular cosmetics company. During her tenure, she wrote captivating descriptions of the aromas of the company’s products for the Lush Times and trained in essential oils and herbalism. After leaving Lush, she decided to write a novel starring a perfumist who solves problems. This endeavor led her to create the fragrances described in the book, which ultimately resulted in the establishment of her own perfume brand, 4160 Tuesdays. As a fully self-taught perfumist, McCartney’s path is unconventional. She began mixing her own combinations of essential oils during her time at Lush and continued honing her skills after leaving the company. Her unique approach to perfume creation, along with her varied interests and experiences, has resulted in a whimsical and captivating collection of fragrances. Sarah McCartney’s 4160 Tuesdays perfume line is inspired by her desire to create the aromas described in her novel. Her passion for perfume-making is fueled by her love of scents and her ability to evoke memories and emotions. McCartney’s favorite scents include toasted coffee, Dior Diorella, grapefruit peel, palm flower, and puddles on the rocks of the beach. Her most popular creations include 4160 Tuesdays, The Sexiest Scent on the Planet. Ever. IMHO, 4160 Tuesdays Over The Chocolate Shop, Zoologist Perfumes Macaque and 4160 Tuesdays Eau My Soul. Each fragrance showcases her originality, creativity, and disregard for conventional perfume rules and regulations.
