Starlicious Berry Licorice Is Mugler’s Playful New Gourmand

Mugler introduces Starlicious Berry Licorice, a new women’s fragrance that leans into fruity sweetness with a dark, licorice twist. The scent belongs to the floral fruity gourmand family and is slated for 2026.

The composition is built around a simple but striking structure: red berries at the top, a delicate flower at the heart, and licorice at the base. Early impressions are already taking shape.

The opening is a bright mix of strawberry and raspberry. These top notes feel juicy and slightly tart, giving the perfume an immediate, playful energy.

At the center, freesia adds a soft floral breath. It cools down the sweetness and keeps the fragrance from feeling too heavy or dense.

The base is where the character lives: licorice. This note brings a bittersweet, aromatic edge with a subtle anise-like nuance, making the dry-down noticeably different from typical fruity florals.

The fragrance is described through fruity, sweet, soft spicy, floral, and anise accords. That makes it more layered than its short note list might suggest.

So far, Starlicious Berry Licorice holds an average rating of 3.19 out of 5 from 95 ratings. With a handful of written reviews, it’s still early to call a consensus, but the fragrance clearly has personality.

This perfume will appeal to women who like sweet, gourmand scents and want something more unexpected than candy-like florals. It’s also a good match for licorice lovers and anyone looking for a cool-weather statement fragrance.

Starlicious Berry Licorice feels like Mugler playing with contrasts: juicy fruit, delicate freesia, and a dark licorice base. It’s an intriguing option for 2026, especially if you want a gourmand that doesn’t stay on the obvious path.

  1. I really like it. It’s fun and cheerful. The first notes that wash over you are strawberry and red berries, with a strong licorice component (the gummy candy kind, not real licorice). When it dries down, it leaves a very sweet, rich strawberry scent with a tangy hint of red gummy licorice. For the price it usually has, both the longevity and the sillage seemed great to me. In my case, it stopped projecting after 4 hours but stayed on my skin for about 12 hours. Surprising performance for an EDT.

I was able to try all three perfumes from Mugler’s Starlicious collection, and the berry one was definitely the one I liked least. In fact, there came a point where I needed to wash my skin because I couldn’t stand how the scent was evolving. The fruity opening, with that pronounced raspberry, reminds me a lot of the smell of some dog perfumes, and as the minutes pass, a strange, almost animalic base appears, which on my skin even has a slightly fecal undertone. It’s a combination that didn’t work for me at all. Personally, I wouldn’t recommend it. And after trying all three Starlicious, I confirm something I’d been thinking for a while: Mugler is not a brand for me. None of its fragrances manage to connect with my tastes or make me feel represented.

  3. L’Oréal, what have you done with Mugler? ✝️ Tasteless. The entire collection of 3 is a big disappointment.
