Descripción
Sens et Bois by The Different Company is a woody-spicy fragrance for men and women. Launched in 2006, this composition was created by perfumer Céline Ellena. The top notes unfold with pepper, ginger, and bergamot; the heart reveals violet, incense, and neroli; while the base notes settle on cedar, sandalwood, and patchouli.

If it had a bit more wood, like vetiver, I’d wear this even as a women’s fragrance. Honestly, it’s a delightful olfactory experience. The pepper reminded me of Hugo Red, which I just bought. But there’s one note I can’t quite identify that has me absolutely thrilled. I tried the Eau de Parfum, and the box is white.
Taking advantage of a niche sale at a chain in Buenos Aires, I tested three from The Different Company and picked up Un Parfum des Sens et Bois. It starts dry and intensely spiced, with black pepper and ginger going all out, before evolving into a violet blended with cedar—a gorgeous combination. During the dry-down, the top notes keep coming back, creating a woody/spicy scent with a subtle floral touch. By the end, the violet fades, leaving behind a lovely sandalwood. On my skin, it lasted about 10 hours, projected well for the first two hours, then gradually softened. I loved it.
