Sawlaj by Kajal is a leather fragrance created for men and women. Launched in 2017, this composition was designed by perfumer Christian Carbonnel. Upon release, the scent unfolds with labdanum, lemon, and bergamota; the heart reveals patchouli, carnation, leather, jasmine, and rose; while the base settles on benzoin, oakmoss, vanilla, and vetiver.

Another absolute bomb that instantly puts me in a great mood. What a fragrance: the bottle is stunning, and the pressurized atomizer is top-notch (the box is just average, but when you pull out that spectacular bottle with its star-shaped metal cap, you realize you’re holding a product from a major house). It smells like leather, but not dry or rustic; it’s very accessible and polished—bright. It’s elegant, beautiful, and yet substantial. It’s unique and lasts forever on the skin. The floral notes of carnation and rose are blended beautifully (very spicy, peppery, or ambered, I assume it’s the labdanum that’s so prominent) with the leather, patchouli, and oakmoss that give it that fortified density. The benzoin plays a huge role, adding a resinous and creamy vibration. I was incredibly impressed by Kajal Sawlaj, perhaps the least known and definitely the least hyped in the collection. A magnificent creation by the talented Carbonell. The scent of modern Middle East right on your skin.
