I’ve been searching for this fragrance for a while since I tried it before but couldn’t find it in my country. The wait was worth it. It’s a cologne that pairs with everything, even on formal occasions. It has a woody and spicy touch that lasts several hours. I love it!

I’ve been looking for this fragrance for a while now since I tried it before but couldn’t find it here. The wait was totally worth it: it’s a cologne that goes with everything, even for formal events. It has a woody and spicy note that lasts several hours. I absolutely love it!

Review of a 2015 bottle, same design as the photo. Overall, the first impression is a perfume similar to Habit Rouge: an aldehydic, citrusy, and spicy opening that lasts about 20 minutes on my skin. It’s spicy, especially due to the clove in this phase (which isn’t listed on Fragrantica but is on another website alongside the aldehydes). I perceive more rose tea and geranium than vetiver and neroli. As it evolves, I like it more; that vigorous and too-pungent aspect of the opening disappears, which I think is its most striking feature, and the fragrance settles with a slower evolution. A very soft talc-like touch (from heliotrope) and the woody note of sandalwood make it easy to wear. You can apply it without fear of over-saturating; I see it as unisex, and that barbershop lotion touch is very pleasant. It doesn’t feel artificial, even though it’s surely updated for IFRA standards. As almost always happens, great perfumes are still being made after so many years, and for a reason. We’re dealing with an L.T. Piver house founded in 1774… almost nothing. As a curiosity, the design has changed little since its creation: blue and gold box, identical bottle, hard plastic Bakelite-style cap, and a metal seal to preserve the contents. Splash format lovers (I hate sprays) will enjoy this scent. The price is laughable for a so-well-constructed perfume, unpretentious and very versatile. I totally recommend it if you’re a lover of soft, slightly ‘old school’ perfumes that don’t feel outdated. With it, you ‘smell good,’ especially for close-range wear. Cheers.

  • Review of a 2015 bottle, identical to the photo. At first, it smells like a Habit Rouge, with an aldehydic, citrusy, and spicy opening that lasts about 20 minutes. I detect lots of clove, tea rose, and geranium, more so than vetiver or jasmine. It evolves beautifully: the sharp opening softens and it settles in slowly. A soft powdery touch and the sandalwood make it very wearable and unisex, almost like a barbershop lotion. It doesn’t smell artificial despite the IFRA regulations. A historic house since 1774 that still produces it with the same blue and gold box design, Bakelite-style cap, and metal seal. Perfect for those who hate sprays and love splash formats. Ridiculously cheap for its quality, versatile, and unpretentious. Recommended if you’re looking for something soft and ‘old school’ yet current. With it, you smell great, perfect for close-range wear. Cheers.

A perfume with substance and old-school style. The opening is a bit sharp and potent, which might surprise or even bother you at first, but the dry-down is incredible. After a few minutes, it’s pure elegance and sophistication with a significant trail. It smells very much like Chanel No. 5, Joya de Myrurgia, or Bijan. L.T. Piver is a very historic house, and while this fragrance takes us back to that golden past, I feel it’s totally appropriate for today for cold days, movie nights, concerts, and special occasions. Rêve d’Or isn’t easy to find; I picked it up at a traditional drugstore whose owner has no idea what treasures she has on the shelves.
