  A perfume that embodies the elegance and femininity of the late Belle Époque. I picked it up from Detaille, my go-to shop, which always crafts artistic, refined, and enveloping scents—very Parisian. 1905 is the soul of that romantic, bohemian peak, capturing all the refinement of the era. It features ten balanced components: classic florals like violet, iris, rose, and jasmine, alongside exotic Indian notes such as vetiver, ylang-ylang, and galbanum, which bring distant landscapes to Paris. The opening is soft and foamy; the violet and galbanum blend on my skin into a single note, an splendid floral-green-oriental start. The purity is divine. It lasts about an hour and a half, and as the top fades, the patchouli and a hint of violet take over, creating a fresh and pleasant transition. Then, the natural fusion of patchouli and rose brings the flowers back; the patchouli lingers, leaving a loving trail. In my opinion, the rose and iris are one of the best floral combinations in history: my skin smells like a garden of white roses with spicy touches of iris, a springtime delight—sweet and fresh, like sunlit fields. At the three-hour mark, pure jasmine appears alongside ylang-ylang, and the trail becomes denser. I detect the orientals, a unique incense, and the jasmine plays with the sandalwood until the atmosphere turns aromatic and the trail feels ‘powerful’. Suddenly, in this dominant phase, the rose, iris, and violet return: a burst of minutes with soft florals and seductive orientals, an unforgettable experience. But what an unexpected and rewarding finale: the florals make one last appearance to say goodbye. It’s a Flower Bomb with great charm. It’s a fragrance that stays in my soul, with a family history I’ll never forget. 1905 is for a delicate, dreamy, elegant, and confident woman—made for true ladies. Normally, I don’t praise perfumes this much, but I made an exception with this one from Detaille; it deserves the same acclaim as classics like No. 5 or the original Miss Dior. It’s the foundation of modern perfumery and deserves recognition. Technically, it lasts 5 to 7 hours on my skin—very long-lasting—and the adherence of white florals and orientals is stronger on my pH. The trail is excellent and stays consistent until the very end, where it fades slowly. It’s ideal for spring days, not too hot, perfect for formal events like a tea party, preferably outdoors. I don’t think it suits other seasons, as it might feel out of place. It pairs perfectly with a silk dress or soft linen, or creamy shades. The bottle is pure style and coquettishness. Highly recommended for those who love the elegance of bygone eras.
