The L. T. Piver house has been around since 1700, originally crafting scents exclusively for the French royalty. The entire packaging screams class, from the box to the gorgeous bottle with its vintage design. Just a heads-up: don’t let the name CUIR fool you; there’s actually very little leather in it. The fragrance opens with a brutal citrus blast, dominated by bergamot and mandarin. Minutes later, the honey note creeps in, growing until it becomes the star by the 9-hour mark. It projects well and lasts long, acting as a mutant scent that doesn’t stay still on the skin but takes a journey. On this trip, you might feel like you’re traveling without moving an inch. Pleasant sensations come to mind: a lemon tree, beeswax from artisan candles, mountain towns where fruits are harvested. This is all Cuir, a refined fragrance of absolute and subtle beauty, one of those timeless gems overshadowed by countless graceless creations. Was all past time better? Who knows. For now, I enjoy the present and the chance to be on this earthly plane.
