Onyx by MARIA CHER.

Yesterday in Buenos Aires, the streets were being perfumed for Mother’s Day. A girl offered me a sample and was so nice. What an amazing scent, I was surprised. It’s a warm classic vanilla that holds its own against Lady Million lines. It’s interesting and potent; the raspberry and vanilla blend perfectly. As it evolves, flowers emerge, the raspberry softens, leaving supreme sophistication. After three hours, the intensity drops and a foamy sandalwood remains on the skin (still with a hint of raspberry) that lasts hours unaltered. I never thought something so cheap (50k pesos vs. 300k for a D&G) could please me so much. I’ve read reviews and own L’Interdit; they barely match in dry-down, but they evolve differently. There are marked differences—Onyx doesn’t remind me of the other, just based on what I’ve read.

I always say you have to test before buying. I have the L’Interdit sample and you can tell they’re similar. It’s super night-time, very noticeable, and I get tons of compliments ✨.

It’s strong but not overwhelming. On my skin, the patchouli stands out, while the raspberry and florals are barely noticeable. Outdoors, I smell it as citrusy and woody, and as it dries down, the patchouli, florals, and raspberry emerge; it’s very winter-appropriate. I live in a lot of heat, and it can definitely be overwhelming in summer or late spring. I think it’s for evening/night; I’m not sure about day because it’s strong, but it depends on every nose. I was looking for a winter fragrance without vanilla or gourmand notes (those make me cringe), and I loved it. I feel it’s elegant, everyday, warmly cozy, and it keeps me from feeling cold, 😅🤭

Very good imitation of L’Interdit. I didn’t test them one by one, but without a doubt, it’s excellently done.

Out of all the L’Interdit dupes I’ve tried, this is my final choice. Maybe there are others better that I haven’t tested, but I loved this one. I confess I own the Body Mist (which I don’t understand why isn’t listed here, because it’s excellent and has better persistence than the perfumes. For me, it’s exquisite, sweet, juicy, not cloying; you can tell it’s fruity, and when it dries down it’s talc-like and vanillaized, an exquisite vanilla. Only praise. I’ve bought it several times and will keep buying it; it can’t be missing among my perfumes like a few others I love. If you like sweet, vanilla, almond, and fruity-vanilla scents, this is yours. But I insist, in my opinion, the body mist is much better, plus it has more quantity, is more affordable, and lasts longer. It’s not about price, but about longevity. There are many perfumes like this.

Very similar to L’Interdit, but not identical. It’s less deep and dries down a bit talc-like. It’s a great option; it lasts several hours on the skin, and I see it as a night or evening-out perfume.

I love neroli, so if it features it as a star, I’m already excited. The first time I tried it on blotter, I didn’t like it; it reminded me of grape gum. A year later, I tried it again: everything changed. I felt those neroli notes wrapped in sandalwood and I loved it. It’s incredible how our perception changes over time; that’s why you should give perfumes multiple chances. For me, Onyx was a clear example. It lasts forever on my skin. I find it fresh, nocturnal, elegant, with a sweet touch. A 10 from Maria Cher, who continues to prove her quality.

Nice fragrance. As soon as you apply it, you sense a haze of amberwood (my nightmare), but it dissipates quickly, giving way to white flowers sweetened by pear. Then a red fruit note appears, adding complexity and elegance. It’s more of a night scent and shines in cold weather. The dry-down reaches 40 minutes, with woods that round out the aroma and temper its sweetness. I think those who enjoy Poison will appreciate it. The potency is high at first but fades quickly, without being overwhelming or cloying. I’ll edit later about the longevity. The scent is very good.

However, it doesn’t last long on my skin: after 3 or 4 hours, the base notes are barely noticeable, the orchid isn’t felt, and the patchouli is minimal. Only the deep sandalwood remains, which isn’t the ending I expected.

I chose it because it’s affordable and I didn’t want to fear breaking it, plus it’s versatile for day and night. But for months now, it feels STRANGE. I’ve seen comments about the Iris version and I think this one is heading the same way; maybe the ingredients aren’t the best quality. It’s something to buy and finish, not to hoard (a year is short for an import, but keep that in mind with Cher).

It smells very good; in fact, it’s quite strong and sharp with an explosion of sticky neroli and orange blossom. The bad part is that it doesn’t last long on me, about 3 hours. If it’s similar to L’Interdit Eau de Parfum, it’s a sexy and more nocturnal scent ♡🍸

Finally on Fragrantica, the perfumes by Maria Cher! 👏 I tried Cher Onyx at the pharmacy and absolutely loved it: it’s elegant and tender, super versatile for work, going out, or events, perfect for day and night. The longevity is excellent. In Argentina, they say it’s a dupe of L’Interdit, but for me, it’s different: it has a more blended composition and the neroli doesn’t stand out as much. I’d buy it if it weren’t out of stock, but once I run out of my current bottles, this is next on my list.

It’s not a perfume for me, but I recommend giving it a try. It’s similar to L’Interdit, though not exactly the same (neither the Givenchy one is my cup of tea). It’s feminine and strong, suitable for day or night, although I don’t think it should be used in heat because it could be overwhelming. In the comparison, Cher Onyx is sweeter, almost seems to have a gum-like scent, and the sandalwood is very present (sometimes neroli smells like that), while L’Interdit is more “smoky.” After the first hour, they become much more similar. It has moderate/high sillage and lasts more than 8 hours on my skin (even reached 12 inches from the skin), so its performance is amazing and totally recommended, especially for the price. It’s not for blind buying and it’s not for me, but if you like it, it’s 100% worth it.
