I went shopping in the Iquique free trade zone yesterday and found discounts ranging from 30% to 40%. I was heading for the Zegna Intense, but I spotted the new Marina de Bourbon collection, Monsieur Le Prince Elegant, in the window. Since I’d already read up on the ingredients, it seemed interesting, and I wasn’t wrong. It opens fresh, floral, fruity, and citrusy all at once; it reminds me of The One Sport by D&G but feels more formal. You can really smell the mint and bergamota. Then the geranium and violet leaves come up, while the vetiver, sandalwood, and patchouli leave a trail lasting 5 to 7 hours. I bought it, but as I passed by, I also checked out the Intense and the tester, which felt drier and more regal to me. Both share the same base, but the Intense is more potent. Faced with indecision, the saleswoman offered me a buy-one-get-one-free deal for 36,000 Chilean pesos (about $55 USD). Without thinking twice, I took both: one for daytime and one for nighttime. Super convenient for the season, since we need fresh scents in this hot climate. The only odd thing is that on my skin, the Intense didn’t last as long as the Elegant, even though both are Eau de Perfumes; maybe each composition just hits differently. Bottom line: summer in Chile lasts until March, so Zegna can wait. For now, I’m happy with this purchase. I totally recommend the Elegant: it’s energizing, sophisticated, cheerful, and elegant, and it absolutely does not disappoint.
I’ve had this fragrance for a while now, and the bottle is still sitting on my shelf. It’s not that I don’t like it; quite the opposite—the scent is top-notch. It’s perfect for spring or summer, with a strong mint and citrus opening that later gives way to something more floral. The aroma is exquisite, but the truth is, it doesn’t last on my skin at all. Out of everything I own, this is the one that fades fastest; it struggles to even make it past the first hour. What a shame, but on my skin, it just falls short.
The vetiver, mint, and bergamot hit hard and give a real energy boost. As it settles, the woody notes of sandalwood and the spicy touch of patchouli come through. It’s not invasive; it’s just well-crafted. Both this and the Intense version work great, but watch out: it can vary depending on your skin and whether you wear it in summer or winter. Definitely try it before buying.
