I absolutely love it, I’m totally smitten. It’s like if Guerlain’s Insolence had its violet notes toned down and everything was rounded off. Such a shame about the price, though—it’s a steal for the face.
Sweet, powdery violets with a lovely touch of orange blossom. To me, it’s like mixing a classic vintage scent with an Insolence-style violet and a sugary orange blossom like Oriana… resulting in a floral-sweet fragrance, but more delicate and less artificial to my nose. Feminine, versatile, floral yet with gourmand touches that make it youthful. Undoubtedly sweet, but after two hours on skin the sweetness mellows and becomes more wearable. I’m never bothered by it… although maybe avoid it on very hot days. Lasts 7-8 hours on skin with moderate projection and sillage. I liked it a lot, though not enough to buy it.
A violet bonbon with a somewhat intense pink pepper and a raspberry so sweet at first that it’s a bit overwhelming; in fact, it seems sweeter than Insolence, like it has sugar in it. Gradually, that sweetness balances out to transition into a more powdery phase thanks to the violet, orange blossom, and heliotrope; this stage is my favorite. The almond went unnoticed by me. In the end, it leaves a feminine, powdery, and sweet fragrance on skin, with moderate sillage and long-lasting durability.
Meh… powdery and sweet violets. It gives me a retro vibe. It’s in the same realm as Celeste, but Celeste is much more interesting, lasts longer, and projects more. I’ll definitely go with Celeste.
A very feminine perfume, notably powdery, where the sugary violet is the star. I also sense faint fresh white floral notes, probably orange blossom. The almond and heliotrope are noticeable in the mid-stage, but from my experience, they don’t persist or make it smell like almond. The raspberry comes in at the beginning, but it’s not a standout component either. I’d wear it any time of year, preferably during the day. The violet and amber are very noticeable as it dries down. If you like airy, sweet, powdery floral scents, this will conquer you. It’s not the same as Kilian’s Love Don’t Be Shy or Parfums de Marly’s Oriana, but it follows the same ‘pretty girl’ line. It has a wide sillage at first, then becomes moderate and discreet; lasts about 7 hours on skin. I enjoyed the experience. It stays in my collection because I believe it offers originality—it’s not the same as any of the comparisons, even if it has nuances of them. Of the two new SORA DORA releases, I definitely stick with JANY.
