  • How is it possible that no one has tried this perfume? It’s excellent for autumn! It’s economical but the trail and longevity are excellent. It’s one of the best from the Liz Claiborne line: a beautiful set of fresh flowers and fruits. When I use it in autumn or rainy days, everyone asks what I’m wearing. Very cheap compared to perfumes that pretend to be famous; I buy expensive stuff and this humble perfume has nothing to envy from brands with opulence and fame.

  • I can see Molly Ringwald in ‘Pretty in Pink’ wearing this fragrance. Liz Claiborne wasn’t looking for a glamorous woman with dramatic perfumes, but a ‘chic’ girl with her own deconstructed style. It opens with prominent calendula, sweet on its fruity side, with musky touches. The interesting part is that the calendula links very well with lily and narcissus; all three are felt together. There’s a touch of moss with green notes that reminds me of Ralph Lauren’s first women’s fragrance (although Lauren is more woody and earthy); Liz is less ambitious and rests on its floral accords. Lilac and lily of the valley occupy part of the stage but not as much as the others. A soft sandalwood moves in the background giving it character. It’s a very creamy, sweet, and delicate floral. It has good longevity on the skin, not weak. The eighties deconstructed version, but with that magical, evocative, nostalgic, and romantic touch.

  • I love it! Since I was little, I smelled like my mom with this aroma and wanted to hug her to smell her. It can’t be missing from our vanity; it smells delicious. It never fails, and the nice thing is that currently, no one knows it. Its dry down is the most beautiful: it stays so soft like morning flower dew. The scent is so light, but with a very marked trail and present all the time; it’s impossible to go unnoticed with such a beautiful fragrance.

  • I saw this perfume when I was young and it never caught my attention; from the brand, I used Curve and Bora Bora, both for daily wear. I just bought it and it was a great surprise. I was impressed by its accord complexity and trail: it lasts 14 hours and I can still perceive it, subtle but there. I bought it blindly based on the notes, and wow, it’s totally different from what I expected. I liked it, but not for daily wear; I feel it’s sophisticated, more for an afternoon date or a coffee. If I were to buy it again, yes, because it’s a hidden gem that almost no one talks about.

Hi everyone! Today is May 10th, Mother’s Day in Mexico, so congratulations to all the moms and mommies! Happy sniffing, and I hope they get lots of perfumes, but mostly lots of love. I have a special affection for this perfume; I keep it on a pedestal in my olfactory memory. It’s the scent that reminds me of my mom: security, happiness, and love. It was her signature for years, perhaps during the happiest moments of my life. I enjoyed my adolescence in the eighties, the fashion changes, Spanish rock, the 1986 World Cup with the famous ‘Chi chi ti bún’, Reino Aventura, Rockotitlán, music like A-ha, Men at Work, Wham!, Culture Club, The Outfield, and movies like Back to the Future. Ahhh, what incredible times. My first loves, my first girlfriends, and yes, my mom as a matchmaker and friend who took me to parties, dances, concerts, and even my boyfriend’s drummer boyfriend’s rehearsals. Nothing could have been more fun. What a privilege. I was the only child of a single mom: loving, hardworking, entrepreneurial, responsible, studious, professional, intelligent, bilingual, sophisticated, cultured, rocker, cheerful, never boring, music-loving, friendly, and very promiscuous. I’m happy for her. I know if my mom and Liz Claiborne had met, they would have been great friends. Before describing the scent, let me clarify: 1. I know it well from years of use and association with incredible memories. 2. Although I didn’t know anything about perfumes back then, I remember it as a whole, not by separate notes. 3. I got it again and gave it to my mom last year; it was nice to perceive it again, remembering is living again, like Kodak moments but olfactory. 4. No commercial interest. The bottle is a blue, yellow, and red triangle, like the Romanian flag, and I associate it with Benetton clothes. I’ll describe it objectively: it’s a feminine FRESH FLORAL scent, clean, luminous, cheerful, welcoming, soothing, with youthful innocence and tenderness, all surrounded by a sexy and romantic atmosphere. It’s floral, fresh, slightly citrusy, sweet but not cloying; despite being from the eighties, it’s still current. Since few use it, it’s not mass-produced; it stands out as something novel but distinguished. I’m glad they didn’t discontinue it; it will never go out of style. The opening is a festival of slightly sweet fresh florals, balanced, with a predominance of whites like freesia and lily of the valley. It’s not spicy or raspy, without harsh spices, leather, or smoky notes; although it has carnation, it doesn’t smell like cloves. The freshness is 50/50 between delicate aromatic notes like green tea or chamomile (no strong mint) and citrus; the balance is perfect. Calendula adds to that citrus-herbal sensation. The sweetness comes from peach and ambered notes that support everything without being overwhelming. The dry down is a wonder: it changes depending on the season and time of day. In cold weather, sandalwood, musk, and amber stand out; in heat, it’s floral-citrus-mossy. It’s almost a chypre due to the bergamot and oakmoss, but without patchouli. Mid-life brings bursts of ylang-ylang, violets, and other flowers. The box and bottle do it justice; it smells like flowers of all colors. On the skin, it’s a creamy, soft, velvety, and sweet layer with a fresh breeze, like dew on white flowers in spring. It’s versatile for any season, ideal for daytime, casual wear, spring-summer, and romantic dates. Average projection and longevity for EDT, perhaps superior to very expensive niche perfumes that last two hours. In summary: 1986 Liz Claiborne is FRESH FLORAL, 100% feminine, youthful, timeless, with colorful floral nuances, magical evolution, evocative, romantic, nostalgic, versatile, unreformulated, smells exactly the same as always. It has outlasted time, has good performance, IT’S NOT EXPENSIVE, and in 2024 IT’S EASY TO FIND. We will definitely keep buying it. Long live Liz Claiborne!
