Nicholas Calderone, a perfumer known for his exceptional work in the fragrance industry, has always felt a passion for aromas and their ability to evoke emotions and memories.
Nicholas Calderone has had a distinguished career working with International Flavors & Fragrances (IFF), a leading company in creating unique scents for various industries. Calderone’s portfolio of creations includes fragrances for some of the world’s most recognized brands, such as Donna Karan, Ralph Lauren, Oscar de la Renta, Estée Lauder, and Liz Claiborne.
One of his most iconic creations is Cashmere Mist Eau de Toilette by Donna Karan, which began as a fragrance for complementary bath products. Its popularity led to its transformation into a standalone fragrance, which has been celebrated for two decades. To mark its twentieth anniversary, a documentary captured the evolution of the scent and highlighted Calderone’s vital role in its creation.
Other popular fragrances created by Calderone include Lauren by Ralph Lauren, Volupté by Oscar de la Renta, Lauder for Men by Estée Lauder, and the eponymous fragrance by Liz Claiborne. His work on Volupté, created in collaboration with the perfumer Sophia Grojsman, was launched in 1992 in association with Sanofi Beaute, a pharmaceutical and cosmetics products company that owned the worldwide marketing rights for the de la Renta fragrances.
