Descripción

Le Barbier de Tanger by MDCI Parfums is an aromatic fougère fragrance for men. Launched in 2016, the nose behind this composition is Anne-Sophie Behaghel. The top notes unfold with bergamot, basil, lemon, tangerine orange, calone, and cardamom; the heart reveals lavender, petit grain, pineapple, galbanum, and apple; while the base notes settle on oakmoss, vetiver, woody notes, patchouli, and amber.

Beautiful scent that blends a classic fougère with a modern twist that fits perfectly into today’s perfumery. It opens with a slightly animalic, sharp citrus note with a hint of dirt, then unfolds into a fresh, herbal, and clean feast, reminiscent of old-school barbershops. Be careful—it doesn’t smell like ‘grandpa’ just because of the lavender; within minutes, calone, apple, and lots of green notes from galbanum, basil freshness, oakmoss, woods, and patchouli take over. Ideal for any age, serious yet approachable, masculine, and nostalgic. I recommend it to anyone seeking something classic, elegant, and versatile, especially those who miss old-school compositions like Chanel’s Pour Monsieur or YSL’s Pour Homme. Plus, the performance is quite good for this type of fragrance.

Lovely scent that mixes a classic fougère with a modern touch that fits perfectly today. It starts with a slightly dirty, animalic note and sharp citrus, then gives way to a party of fresh, herbal, and clean notes, like in an old-fashioned barbershop. Watch out! It doesn’t smell like ‘grandpa’ just because of the lavender; within minutes, calone, apple, and plenty of green notes from galbanum, basil freshness, oakmoss, and woody patchouli accents emerge. Perfect for any age, serious yet approachable, masculine, and nostalgic. I recommend it to anyone looking for something classic, elegant, and versatile, especially those who miss compositions like the old Chanel Pour Monsieur or YSL Pour Homme. On top of that, the performance is quite impressive for this kind of perfume.

MDCI is an off-the-radar house, hard to find and almost nonexistent on the resale market, with an air of mystery. Le Barbier de Tanger is an elegant, luxurious fougère—soapy but not powdery, robust yet soft. It features citrus, spices like rosemary, sage, and lavender, plus wood notes. It’s fruity, fresh, clean, and very green. In my opinion, it’s a great perfume that reminds me a lot of Egoiste Platinum. It’s almost a modernized version of the legendary Chanel, thanks to the pineapple, apple, and a touch of calone; a future-proof reinterpretation. The quality and composition are top-notch; the result feels like being wrapped in first-class shaving foam. However, if money isn’t an issue, I’d still go for a vintage Egoiste Platinum.
