Labyrinth of Spices by Alghabra Parfums is an aromatic fougère fragrance for men and women. Launched in 2019, this composition features a pyramid designed by the perfumer at the laboratory. The top notes unfold with tobacco, Turkish coffee beans, pineapple, and labdanum; the heart reveals cloves, nutmeg, anise, cardamom, cinnamon, lavender, and tonka bean; while the base settles on amber, sandalwood, vetiver, musk, oakmoss, and cedar.

One of the best discoveries since I started this addiction! Alghabra is a Turkish house I stumbled upon thanks to a random sample, and the level of surprise was incredible. This perfume is inspired by the Grand Bazaar in Istanbul and masterfully takes you on a walk through that famous market. The opening is an explosion where you feel the juiciness of pineapple alongside spiced coffee, as if you’re having Turkish coffee right after waking up. Quickly, the spices take the lead while the coffee becomes a supporting note. It’s a rounded composition of nutmeg and clove, with other spices emerging: sometimes cinnamon, other times a subtle cardamom, and others I can’t quite identify. All set within a frame of musk, vetiver, and amber that provides balance despite being a spice bomb. And I must talk about the word BOMB: this is easily the most intense and long-lasting perfume I know; with just one spray on my neck, it lasts over 12 hours on my skin (for reference, I use a minimum of 5 sprays of Interlude Black Iris when it’s cold, so I’m not one of those who uses little). In short, it’s a hidden gem in perfumery. I think the price might influence some, but given the quality, longevity, and how long the bottle lasts, it’s absolutely worth it. It’s one of those perfumes where every use is a new experience, sensing a different nuance or a note you hadn’t noticed before. An excellent example of why perfumery is art.
