It’s the earthiest facet of iris, instead of the creaminess of the root, I really picked up that subtlety of the flower combined with earth. Maybe it changes on skin, but I didn’t get to try it because it didn’t convince me. That said, the bottle is gorgeous.

The other day I went to try Iris by Loewe, and it was like opening a door to a room where the air floats thick, soft, with that elegant dust left by old makeup on a wooden table. The first breath is clean, powdery, almost innocent, like skin that has just dressed itself in perfume so the world will look at it differently. But then, twenty minutes later, the game changes. The orris root comes on stage and everything darkens a little: a deep, earthy echo appears, smelling of night, of thought, of something that can’t be explained politely. It has no gender. Iris by Loewe belongs to no one. It is a perfume that sits just as well on a man’s skin as on a woman who has learned not to ask for permission.
