No reign lasts forever, and everything comes to an end; in this case, Harmonious by @boadiceathevictorious puts the nail in the coffin of the Iris/Leather king, Dior Homme Parfum, surpassing it in every way. The scent will remind you of it immediately, but the British house’s moves are obvious: overwhelming power that doubles Dior and extends the beloved “lipstick” dusty iris facet. The iris is evident and crushing; the warm, buttery, creamy sweetness of the base comes with notes of rum and cognac, creating a sensual and sophisticated aura made to turn heads. If you’re reserved, watch your sprays. It’s dusty iris from start to finish, at full blast, with warm, buttery facets slightly sweetened by the liquor, plus a plush suede leather sensation that stands above any other scent. Sophisticated, elegant, powerful, and attractive. Is it worth it compared to DHP? For me, as an iris fan, it’s more complex and rich in nuances than Dior, which fascinates me, but against this Harmonious, it has little to do. It’s close to the early DHP formulations, but dustier and more powerful. Iris fans, you have another gem.
Spoiler: A pre-2025 Dior Homme Parfum will get more mentions than Boadicea’s Harmonious. My verdict: the opening is the best part, featuring a background iris, sweet orange, and a boozy touch that gives it personality compared to the original. It lasts about 30-40 minutes. Then, the citrus and alcohol fade away, drying down as a blatant copy of the decaffeinated pre-2025 DHP. Don’t be offended by the term: in the dry-down, I don’t detect the depth or nuances of the original; it becomes more airy and light. DHP is like watching TV in 8K, while Harmonious is 1080p. On my skin, it lacks the better performance, quality, and elegance I’ve read about. It’s a “close but no cigar,” a “want but can’t have.” In short, it’s a lighter, more versatile version of pre-2025 DHP with an original opening. Does it smell good? Absolutely! Since it’s a copy of pre-2025 DHP. As long as you can find it, I recommend DHP over Harmonious. P.S. It’s a shame the bottles are pretty but the caps are cheap.
Harmonious by Boadicea the Victorious is exactly that: pure harmony. From the opening to the dry-down, all the notes are so balanced that it seems impossible to point out a protagonist. Every stage is a smooth, elegant transition, full of nuances ranging from aldehydic tones to noble woods and a polished, not powdery, iris. It’s not a Dior Homme Parfum clone, nor does it pretend to be. But for those who love that François Demachy gem, it offers a niche alternative that stands tall—something no cheap clone has achieved, including the mentioned ones like Gary’s Den Fomo. Here we talk about a fragrance that maintains the sophistication and character of Dior Homme Parfum but takes it a step further: it’s more versatile, rich in nuances, with beast-mode longevity and projection without losing elegance. It’s for those seeking distinction without being loud, a complete, refined, and satisfying olfactory experience. A worthy heir to the Dior Homme style, but with its own throne.
Boadicea the Victorious Harmonious is exactly that: pure harmony. From the opening to the dry down, everything is so balanced it’s hard to point out a single protagonist. Every stage is a smooth, elegant transition, with nuances ranging from amber tones to noble woods and a polished, non-powdery iris. It’s not trying to be a Dior Homme Parfum clone. I perceive this Boadicea as a pre-2025 DHP that’s more polished and harmonious. The original always felt excessive to me, with notes I didn’t entirely buy into, but Harmonious has made me reconsider that DNA that never clicked before. Maybe it’s because it’s more versatile or easy to wear; simply put, I really like it. I acknowledge that DHP is a masterpiece, but personally, I’d choose to wear this Harmonious instead.
To start, I should clarify that I own Dior Homme Parfum 2014 and Fomo Gary’s Den. After testing them side by side, three things stand out: *I don’t know if they refilled the Boadicea bottle with Gary’s juice or vice versa. 😱 *The 2014 Dior Homme is quite different from these two in olfactory experience. *Today, François Demachy’s masterpiece still has no rival. I’ll keep testing over the next few days because my nose is a bit scrambled; I’ll update soon.
An obvious improvement over classic DHP. It doesn’t just improve on the scent; the iris feels domesticated and more wearable. Recognizable lipstick iris opening, accompanied by citrus and spicy notes that make it less imposing and creamy. Drying down, a light aldehydic accord and a subtle suede form a rounder, more versatile perfume. I think points are won here, being from the same family. With that harmonization pretension, the final phase rests on something less iris and more woody with a sweet spot: recognizable sandalwood. I’d say I prefer DHP at that point. I should re-evaluate it. In summary, it’s an addictive fragrance that leaves a sublime trail. It performs and projects generously, lasting well over 8 hours. Unisex, works all year round except on very hot days. That said, its absurd price kills any real buying option. Elegant, formal, and distinctive. Top.
A clear improvement over the classic DHP. The iris here feels tamed and more wearable, with a citrus and spicy opening that prevents it from being too bold or creamy. As it dries, a touch of amber and a subtle suede round out the fragrance. The final phase is less iris and more woody with a hint of sweetness; at that point, I prefer this version. It’s an addictive scent with a sublime trail, excellent performance, and lasts over 8 hours. Unisex and functional all year except in extreme heat. The absurd price is the only real drawback. Elegant, formal, and distinctive. Top.
