If you’re looking for class, quality, and longevity, Guerlain Homme Intense is the one. It has the full package: instant love at first sniff. Lasts over 12 hours on clothes and about 8 on skin. Rum, mint, vetiver, and cedar… it’s rich, and my girlfriend absolutely loves it. A Guerlain masterpiece; if you liked the original Homme, this one will steal your heart. Highly recommended. Longevity 8/10, projection 8/10, scent 10/10.
Starts with intense citrus, a gorgeous saturation that gives it a narcotic vibe very similar to Eau Savage Extreme, but sweeter and more youthful. It moves away from the original’s mojito to focus on that rum, absolutely stunning! The citrus opening fades slowly, giving way to a poetic vetiver into the heart, where the note blend is complex, masculine, and very classy. In the dry down, it lands on an acidic yet sweet wood that keeps the essence of the formula. It disappears completely after a shower, though the hot water vapor brings back the last memories. Highly recommended.

I bought this thinking that since it’s ‘intense,’ the mojito effect would be very refreshing. Wrong goal. I live in a tropical climate and after two wears, it seems it’s for people 40 or older. I’m 33 and it wasn’t easy for me to adapt. The first time, an aggressive vetiver with a woody base stood out, nothing fresh and as sporadic as a sigh (fortunately). Today I tried it again at 37°C and managed to feel that ‘mentholated freshness,’ but it only lasted an hour; afterwards it turned and became more floral with a dark, heavy vetiver base, mature but elegant. Moderate projection and lasting longevity. I think it’s a more refined version of the house’s Vetiver. I recommend not buying blindly if you’re under 35. Personally, it didn’t work for me, and I’ll wait until autumn to have a complete perspective. I hope to update the review. ***Update 05/27/17*** I couldn’t wait for autumn, so I’ll detail my experience more objectively. The fresh opening lasts between 30 minutes and an hour, with the mentholated alcoholic facet clearly perceived. Then the rum fades and evolves into a dark herbal and woody base. At the one-hour mark, that herbal accord directs the transition to a darker, thicker floral frame, serving as a base for a mentholated vetiver. The relaxed, informal freshness disappeared as the rum and mojito faded; now it projects a masculine, formal, direct, and aggressive image, suitable for business or politics. It stays this way until three hours, when the mint disappears momentarily before reappearing in bursts; the cedar base becomes relevant, balancing with the vetiver and flowers to reinforce the dark body and add warmth. I got the impression of smelling florally tanned leather. The darkness isn’t friendly like Issey Mialle’s Nuit d’Issey, but an authoritative presence. I already said it’s elegant; now I add that it can seem lordly, even harassing those around you, so it’s not for everyone or all occasions. This highlights its class and quality. What mentholated cigars do you smoke? By their gray tones and almost sweet chords, GHI smells to me like an ashtray where Benson & Hedges butts went out after days. Longevity up to 15 hours on clothes and perceived on skin even after a shower. 100% masculine perfume for specific situations. Moderate projection (fortunately, don’t overapply). I tested it in temperatures around 40 degrees Celsius.
It’s an explosion of mint, vetiver, and rum. The scent is like the classic but with more character, dense and intense. Longevity 7 hours and projection 2 hours, perfect for going to the park or an outdoor bar. If you have the chance to get it, don’t hesitate, it’s one of the best designer perfumes on the market.

Compared to the EDT version where the mojito is more noticeable, here I sense excellent, refined mint that then gives way to vetiver and rum, adding more body. I like all the Guerlain Homme versions, but if I had to choose one, it’s this. I see it as more versatile: works for both formal and casual occasions, it’s summery but can also be worn in winter.
Compared to the EDT where the mojito is clearer, here I notice an excellent, fine mint, then the vetiver and rum base appears, giving it body. Good option for the office or professional visits with semi-casual attire. I’ve checked that it maintains its trail and personality even in the rain.
I say the same as with the EDT… but where can you test it? Nobody has it.
It seems it was reformulated too; I don’t know if it’s my skin, but the performance isn’t good :(. At least I bought it cheap at duty-free. Maybe in summer it DOES BRILLIATE, because it’s the best fragrance I’ve ever smelled from Guerlain.
It seems they’ve reformulated it too; I’m not sure if it’s my skin, but the performance isn’t quite as good :(. At least I bought it cheap at duty-free. Maybe in summer it will BRILLE, because it’s the best fragrance I’ve smelled from Guerlain.
Don’t buy it online yet (batch code is 4X01), on eBay or similar sites. They have very weak projection and longevity, plus a terrible atomizer. I admit the mojito and mint note is incredibly well done; I’m fascinated by that peculiar scent. In summer: Scent 10/10, Projection 1/10, Longevity 2/10, Price 5/10. It’s not worth it even at $40 for that awful projection.
Watch out when buying: make sure it says ‘GUERLAIN’ engraved on the bottle. The new ones have a painted white logo and are batches with almost non-existent projection and poor longevity.
Delicious aroma with huge longevity and great projection; I wear it at the office all year and for special occasions. Just two sprays are enough. If you like the blend of mint, rum, vetiver, and flowers, it’s an elegant delicacy and very masculine. Cheers.
Smells like pure but refined spring, denser than the EDT and perfect for the season. It’s my only signature: Guerlain makes fine, elegant perfumes without mass production or ad spending. The trail is moderate, not invasive but present, lasting about 6 to 8 hours. My bottle is a first edition with that mirror-like plaque on the front.
