  • Once it dries down, it smells a bit like Bulgari’s In Black, but Pinifarina lasts longer and has more facets; it’s not as uniform or linear as Bulgari’s. It’s a refined fragrance with a floral opening and woody notes that mature and settle into a distinct shape. It’s not boring or linear. Great longevity.

  • If you get the chance to get it, don’t hesitate to buy it—you won’t regret it. How can I put this better? It’s like L’Homme but denser, a bit darker, and the notes feel great, every nuance, with high-quality ingredients and less fresh than the Homme. Good longevity with a Guerlain-style trail, typical, soft, and not annoying. A refined, classy fragrance; shame there aren’t more like it.

  • This fragrance is named after Battista ‘Pinin’ Farina, the great Italian car designer who worked with luxury brands. Its red Guerlain bottle recalls the Ferrari Testarossa and Rolls-Royce Corniche III, a far cry from today’s boring bottles. A limited edition of 30 ml, a very attractive specimen. From the start, lime citrus and mint freshness, wrapped in that unmistakable ‘guerlinade’—unctuous, velvety, powder-room scent with iris, jasmine, bergamot, sandalwood, patchouli, and tonka bean. Anything missing from the description? By now I’ve smelled countless fragrances with hidden notes, so nothing new there. The ‘guerlinade’ accord isn’t as potent as in other Guerlain scents, like L’Instant pour Homme. In PININFARINA COLLECTOR, they’ve toned down the sweetness in favor of pungent, acidic, woody, and mentholated notes. How do lime and peppermint blend with woods? PININFARINA nailed it. Soon, a dark, dry rum emerges—a drastic, resolute, vigorous aroma close to cognac macerated in old oak barrels. When the woody base hits, PININFARINA takes on intense, mentholated cedar and an earthy, shadowy patchouli. This liquor-soaked blend, heavy on mint, produces such intense ethereal vapors that they rise from my arm to my nose, literally getting me drunk. The trail and longevity are exceptional. It’s not intrusive because Guerlain has always stood for good taste, but I must say: don’t overapply. Not because it’s stomach-turning, but because it hijacks your senses until you lose your bearings. That’s the degree of intoxication and envelopment. GUERLAIN HOMME PININFARINA is a perfume with an aristocratic, elegant imprint. Its sophistication and classicism don’t appeal to all modern scent addicts. It may feel anachronistic today, belonging to the Island of Lost and Forgotten Scents. Discontinued, overlooked, ephemeral, yet brimming with the charm of serendipitous discovery.
