Descripción
Loewe Gala is an oriental floral fragrance for women. Launched in 1991, this composition was created by perfumer Jean-Louis Sieuzac. The top notes reveal aldehydes, bergamot, green notes, and Amalfi lemon. The heart of the fragrance unfolds jasmine, carnation, ylang-ylang, rose, and lily of the valley. Finally, the base notes offer agarwood, castoreum, French labdanum, amber, sandalwood, patchouli, benzoin, and vanilla.

A symbol of class, but difficult to wear. The animal notes are overkill. I have cold skin and this perfume doesn’t develop at all in winter; it smells like excrement. When spring arrives, it changes radically… but it’s already out of season. Too bad!
I wore it years ago and it gave me nausea. It doesn’t smell like feces or anything like that, it just doesn’t suit me. It’s not for me.
I had it many years ago. It gave me nausea. It doesn’t smell like excrement at all… We just don’t get along. It’s not for me.
It’s a powerful perfume, not suitable for daily life, summer, or young girls. It’s aristocratic and makes itself felt when you wear it, so I only wore it on special occasions. To me, it seems elegant, nothing vulgar. It’s a distinctive scent; I’d recognize it among other perfumes.
Extraordinary and unusual. I wore it in the 90s. My boyfriend back then brought it to me as a gift from Spain. I never managed to replace it because it’s not available in Argentina.
Why did I miss this for so many years??? Here there is power, impact, and conviction. This fragrance isn’t for everyone, nor can everyone wear it. It’s not a matter of sex or age, but of attitude. Gala is for people who know how to speak without opening their mouths, for those for whom the ground trembles when they walk. It’s not for walking around hesitating or indecisive. Do you want to feel powerful? Wear it. Ylang Ylang, carnation, amber, animal notes, sandalwood… It seems very similar to the Samsara style but more aggressive. I love Samsara and I love Gala; it could be an option for those who love this extinct fragrance. Despite being bold and impactful, it’s very moderate and quite wearable. I still don’t understand why there are mediocre fragrances with millions of fans and others like this no longer exist…
There are people who leave an indelible mark and take our breath away. Flying is beautiful but dangerous. There’s a difference between leaving a mark and a scar. The former is pride, the latter is pain. Saying goodbye hurts: you wake up with the pillows still smelling of Gala and her skin, a veil of sadness knowing she won’t return. I remember her smile, her dress, the time waiting, lost in her dreams, and me thinking of an island just for the two of us. I remember her tube dress at that party I didn’t want to go to, the day I met her. I was surprised because a girl like that is hard to find. I got nervous looking at myself, but she knew the perfect words. As she approached, I perceived an ostentatiously elegant fragrance, with an animal component that added sensuality and completed an overwhelming opulence. Hypnotized by her eyes and by that floral, animal, and balsamic blend with smoky amber, citrus notes, green notes, and aldehydes that gave Gala an timeless elegance. Strong, like the taste of a kiss on the seaside. A fragrance that shows presence, radiance, and notable sillage; many will flee from that opening note that smells like orange in syrup soaked with Grand Marnier, but it shows no weakness, remaining opulent and grandiose in a creamy, balsamic, and floral development. A strong fragrance like your passion, well-composed, which, by chance, has returned to me and I felt your presence.
I’ve only been wearing it for ten minutes and I don’t know how it will develop later, but for now, I’m loving it so much. Definitely, something in it reminds me of Joop (I’m not sure exactly what), and it even has a tiny hint of that Cabochard ashtray smell, but it’s not as androgynous; it reminds me of something else. It could be Myrurgia’s Orgía, though I’m not sure; either way, it reminds me of those beautiful old Spanish perfumes, with an air between ‘Geta Garbo’ and 80s chic. Another great lost perfume.
Gala lives in my memory. I used to hear it a lot in my childhood, and now I enjoy it in all its beauty. It has a floral heart where my nose detects mostly carnation, with a creamy texture and a spicy touch. It’s accompanied by animal, amber, and soapy notes. It’s a dark yet soft scent, like satin, undulating and without edges. That animal facet doesn’t dirty it; instead, it adds a very attractive sensuality. Gala has class and overwhelming personality. It’s a perfume to be worn with poise, nocturnal, brilliant, silky, and captivating. Thanks to Jerry Drake for letting me relive his magic.
Finally managed to grab some 40ml and 80ml bottles of that limited edition with the elongated bottle that came out around 2016. It does smell like Boucheron, even a bit like Joop Femme, though not as much as the other one. I bought it blind since I already owned those two; I was itching for new notes, and since no other Loewe had ever convinced me, I thought this one would be the one. It’s a very refined scent, reminiscent of those potent room sprays from the 80s. I liked it, but not quite as much as I expected. Good longevity and moderate sillage, and I’m speaking about the last bottles before they were discontinued for good.
