After testing it a bit more and looking at it from a different angle, I’m revising my opinion: the opening doesn’t smell like Tsar at all. While the original is fresh and woody, Dua’s version is warm and amber-heavy, losing that freshness I love so much. That said, there are three Tsars, and according to some, Dua is closer to the Jade edition than the Emerald. As it dries down, it resembles Tsar much more than any other fragrance I know, yet it keeps that amber touch until the very end, feeling more like a warm flanker than a clone. Beyond whether it’s a clone, as a fragrance in its own right, it’s captivating in temperate or cold climates, radiating that eighties flair that captivates vintage lovers. Verdict: Do I recommend it as a clone? I’m not sure. As a fragrance in itself? Absolutely.
