  Every Fueguía perfume is a top-tier olfactory journey; the best way to experience them is visiting a boutique to try the vast selection with patient, expert advisors, because the visit itself is an experience. The Other Tiger comes from the Literature collection, inspired by a Borges poem about the fatal tiger and its routine of love, leisure, or death in Sumatra or Bengal, evoking an indefinite, ancient adventure. Officially, it’s an animal family with leather as a secondary note, highlighting civet as the tonal heart, dominant musk, and secondary ambergris. To my nose, the opening features ambrette, muscone, and muscenone that mimic natural musk but in a more pleasant way, balancing attraction, seduction, and wildness without being overwhelming. Then Julián Bedel seems to play with nard, a touch of oud, sandalwood, and Madagascar vanilla to create something enveloping, sensual, and impactful in an oriental style. I think it’s very masculine, but if a woman layers it with some roses or amber, it becomes an irresistible beast. One of Fueguía 1833’s strengths is its perfectly crafted musks and ambers. This perfume is meant to leave a mark and seduce, but it’s best to try it since they only make 400 bottles a year and each vintage can vary slightly. It’s from 2010, the same year Fueguía was born, a name honoring Fueguía Basket, the Tierra del Fuego native girl kidnapped by Fitz Roy and taken to Europe, who wasn’t recognized by her people upon her return. They’re expensive, but top-tier quality; better to buy a 30ml bottle than waste money on knockoffs that spend on advertising instead of ingredients, which is the exact opposite of this house that prioritizes quality.
