Few florals make me feel like I’m actually breathing in flowers. With others, I cross my fingers that they won’t be too strong, animalic, or cloying, but this one is like pressing my nose into a freshly cut carnation: pure magic. It takes a moment to take off, but once it does, it’s nothing but carnation. If you want something as simple yet complex as smelling like a carnation, try it; you’ll fall in love. Over time, the floral softens, giving way to a delicious blend of vanilla and lots of clove, with a bitter cedar note in the base that keeps it from being too sweet—something I really appreciate. Plus, the trail is great, even though it’s an eau de toilette. It doesn’t feel heavy, vintage, overly elegant, or too spring-like; you wear it whenever you feel like it, and it won’t clash. I’m genuinely surprised by this house!
