Carioca Heart by Jusbox

“Carioca Heart” lives up to its name: it brings the soul of Brazil in a gorgeous bottle. I only tested it once on my wrist and I loved it. Opens with a creamy mango scent, as if bathed in coconut milk with pineapple and lemon. As it dries down, the mango softens a bit but remains present, while rum, creamy sandalwood, and sweet vanilla take over. Sillage is low, but the longevity is brutal: over 6 hours and it still smells divine. Reminded me of “Andalusian Soul” by The Merchant of Venice, but with mango and a barely perceptible labdanum.

It reminded me of ‘Hawaii-Bombay’ by Mecano, imagining beaches while stuck in the office with broken AC. I needed to travel, head to Rio, and grab a cocktail. I stumbled upon Jusbox and saw ‘Carioca Heart’. Mango? Few fragrances feature it. Rum? The classic alcohol note that lasts. Vanilla? The queen of longevity. I bought it blind—that extreme sport. The packaging pays tribute to Bossa Nova, that 2000s genre that’s like today’s Lofi. Upon spraying: acidic and sweet fruits, pineapple and mango, feeling like fresh juice. Then the alcohol delivers that cocktail touch by the poolside under the sun. It evokes images: beach, daybed, palm trees, sunscreen, and a tricky drink. Technically, it lasts 12 hours (by the next day, it smells like vanilla). People say: ‘Smells expensive,’ ‘You smell so sexy.’ The mango is realistic and impressive, noticeable even in the first 6 hours. Close your eyes and you’re in Rio, a girl serving you a cocktail. A perfect imaginative oasis.

I don’t sense evolution (depends on pH, but in my case, perfumes are radioactive, and this stays potent for over 24h with just 1 spray). From the start, it’s a cocktail of sweet and fresh fruits: lots of juicy, sparkling pineapple, then mango. Although not listed, I sense coconut water, perhaps due to the combination. It’s a flirty, refreshing, and cheerful cocktail. When wearing it, you can’t help but think of vacations, the beach, rhythm, and party. Definitely a tropical bomb.

In the heart, florals emerge with a subtle peony. What I appreciate most about this high-end fusion is its density; it has substance, not a generic fruitiness like Escada, but real weight. The dry-down is chameleon-like: it shifts to a sweet amber style with a touch of sandalwood, becoming more cordial with other scents. Very pleasant. The fruity notes persist from start to finish. The trail is wide at first, then moderate. Lasts up to 10 hours on skin with intense projection for the first 3-4 hours. Unisex, with a slight feminine lean. Fruity/tropical for all seasons and any occasion, best for daytime and casual meetups. I’m fascinated and can’t wait to enjoy it to the fullest. It stands apart from Hibiscus Mahajad, which features more hibiscus and vanilla. They don’t overlap, though they share nuances. In conclusion: excellent olfactory quality.
